Laybutt leaves with an ankle injury and Foran with some kind of bodily injury.
Foran looked OK running up and down the touchline near half time. Should be back.

Big Nelson's been named for the Bears NSW Cup team.
Problem at the Storm between Nelson and Bellamy. According to reports Nelson was overweight and told to shed some kilos and has not responded quickly enough.
Hence his absence from the starting squad.

Another turn up for the books West Tigers took the lead through Juston Olam and then withstood substantial Paramatta pressure throughout the half. The Count of Commbank, Maika Sivo pulled o e back for Paramatta before a penalty by the shaven Clint Guthrrson on tbe half time hooter levelled the scores.
The second half started out as an arm wrestle until fi ally there was clean break and Gutherson , the beating heart of Paramatta nipped under the posts to put Parra in front.
There then followed some sustained Paramatta pressure before what turned out to be the turning point in the game with Lachlan Galvin sent to the sin bin.
Now with Gutherson kicking the 2 points at 14-6 and Wests down to 20 men.Game over surely. Not a bit of it John Bateman and Api Korosau rallied the Tigers and led by example,as West held out during Galvin,s absence.
Once back on you could see why Benji has faith in young Galvin as first Bula scored to narrow the gap then Galvin made a second try for Olam.
At that point the stadium rocked to the chant of Tigers, Tigers. Paramatta knew they had to get back In the game and with an infraction near the sticks Gutherson opted fir the two points to square the vores with about 3-4 mins left. Thus brought things down to drop goal territory
After a Sezer effort from distance that ended well wide but still gave good field position Wests were able to work to give Sezer a second chance trough Batemen and Korosau and he slotted a wobbly kick just over.
With about 46 seconds left Parras only chance was an onside kick launched on to the left flank and a penalty ensued and you would have put your house on Gutherson converting but this went well wide.
Now most people would not have had Wests repeating but it can be argued that Wests are as far forward as the Bulldogs in their rebuild
For Paramatta, this is a game they should have won if they want to be taken seriously as challengrts.
This is the last of my ramblings on games I have been at in Australia as I return to the UK tomorrow
Straight home or with a stop-over break. In any case enjoy the trip back.

A lowlight...... Made no attempt to put his foot anywhere near the ball in his PTB's.
Probably seeking to emulate Tedesco who can go a whole season of PTB's without his foot ever being near the ball.

50min: Kurtis Morrin gets 10 in the bin for a lifting, dangerous position tackle on Murray Cameron.
I can't believe the Dogs think Preston might be returning. He went straight to ground and stayed there with no sign of even attempting to stand. That's gotta be a Category 1, surely.
Absolutely. Head injury protocol completely absent there. Had the bunker doctor gone AWOL?

Addo-Carr out of the match with a Cat1 concussion after a heavy hit by Mitchell in a try attempt on halftime.

Luai improved enormously on his form in recent matches and Schneider had a really solid game at 7.
Robinson said the Panthers were far better on the night and hit the soft pedal on the disallowed bunker try for Manu.
Cleary stated that he has resolved not to comment on bunker decisions but did offer a view that black/white decisions never worked
with RL rules.

Both these teams should be in the mix by the end of the season but they come into this without some key players.
Sydney Roosters were excellent in their win over South Sydney Rabbitohs last week.Panthers were comfortable against Brisbane Broncos. However, the loss of Nathan Cleary could be a hurdle too many to overcome.
The Roosters tend to play well on home soil, so will it be the hosts then that will snatch the victory?I believe the absence of Cleary and Fisher- Harris will tip it Sydney's way. Looking for big improvements from both Luai and Martin as both are below par at the moment.

Best game in Aus...... GB beating Aus in the third Test at the SCG in 1970 to win the Ashes Series 2-1. The last occasion GB won the Ashes.
Best game in England.... Wigan v Hull at Wembley in 1985. Came from Aus to see the Kenny/ Stirling match up.

Must admit not been to a live game this season yet but will go and watch it when the Ice Hockey season is over, reminds of when rugby was good.
Hull fans you have a decent Ice Hockey team in Hull you should give it a go you may just enjoy it!
Loved Ice Hockey as a kid in Hull but back then in the forties and fifties there was no team. Our school in Hull every year organised a day excursion by train to the CC final and after the match a visit to the Wembley ice rink to watch the Wembley Lions play. Usually the opponents were the Brighton Tigers.

Been a long time coming mate but, as I've said numerous times before, I really despise the ground where they play their home games. The team produce their very worst performances there and there is very little in the way of atmosphere.
After leaving the UK in the mid 60's I made occasional visits to Hull before in 2010 finally seeing them play at home for the first(and last time.) It was a night match against St Helens and we won a thriller in the last minute. I remember a decent crowd being present but the atmoshere was almost non-existent and the whole experience a bit of a disappointment.
Perhaps the fact that I watched Hull play almost every home match at the Boulevard from the mid forties to leaving Hull in 1960 contributed- the atmosphere was always great there.

Out for Penrith is prop Fisher-Harris. Last year this fixture was a Round 1 match-up loss for Penrith following the Penrith home loss to St Helens.
Penrith are favoured to win and it should be a cracking game. Had been offered a seat for tonight's match but will watch it at home.

Just a little background on Latrell.
Latrell grew up in Taree where I did and have moved back to after living away for twenty years, the levels of racism here sometimes blows me away with people openly making racist remarks, it makes my blood boil but is commonplace and I`ve come to the conclusion that even a lot of people who don`t say it are probably thinking it, this is the environment where Latrell grew up and I think explains a lot of his proud black man behaviour, he wants to show young Aboriginal kids be proud and don`t let the bastards get you down. I saw him last summer down by the river at Taree, I gave him a hello from afar and he responded with a lovely wave and thumbs up.
Latrell is never going to be a Tedesco, Trbojevic, Edwards et.al. and why should he just because that is the current trend for fullbacks, but if the Souths can get the rest of their backline firing there is absolutely no reason why they cannot be a deadly premiership force with him playing just the way he does.
Enjoyed that Rocket. How long have you been back in Taree? We are 55 kms away from you in Lake Cathie and moved here last July.

Totally agree with you regarding the ground, it definitely lacks atmosphere apart from the odd game. No comparison to the Boulevard, especially in the 80s.
In the 50's when we had a really great team and coach it was even better!

The Sharks are a great club and I love their style of play, but moving forward unfortunately I expect it to be a long -time between premiership drinks as the game grows around them.
Became a member of their Leagues Club in 1970 and then a season ticket holder from 1972 until 2000 when we moved home from near Cronulla to the Blue Mountains.
Loved watching them in those 30 years when they managed to reach 3 GF's.

Magic Round does seem to work well in Brisbane but Perth would be an interesting experiment.
No chance of it being taken from Brisbane for the foreseeable future. Too popular with players, coaches and spectators. Was there myself last year but will miss this year.

Is it me/my TV or is the sound all across?
You can't always hear the commentators over the crowd and ground noise.
I noticed this earlier in the season too.
I cannot hear anything clearly from the TV coverage of all SL matches and so wear a set of high quality headphones( Sennheiser) which continuously give great sound.

That's fantastic. Obviously without referees we can't even have games. Great stuff.
At least 3 females too which is good to see. Any female referees in the the Women's game in the ERL good enough for Super League?

I hope Panthers fans are taking it real hard
Well I am a Penrith fan and really enjoyed the match. We did not take our chances and Wigan were stoic in defence and deserved their win in the end. My opinion on the 2 controversial try decisions is that both were no-tries. No complaints from me on the refereeing - it's a tough job!
As for disappointment, Wigan caused me more back in 1959 when I was a Hull FC fan and we were hammered at Wembley. We had a champion team in the 50's with the best pack in our history but Wigan were again deserved winners.
Best of luck for both teams in their competitions in 2024. For the record I think Wigan will be champions and Penrith will not.
