  1. That’s obvious … amateur structure doesn’t drain or require the resources of a pro league
  2. Does that imply, the Aussies set the bar too high .. let’s not bother reaching for that .. how about London v Huddersfield 3 times a year .. in front of 3k … not reported in the press … etc etc … average game, came be bothered .. but at least there are 12 or 14 pretend professional clubs
  3. The starting question should be,”how do we beat the Aussies”, and “how many players are in the system that are good enough to compete with the Aussies”.
  4. Salford should have taken the easy 2 points, when the yellow card was given. 14-10 up .. and they’d get the ball back. Match management.
  5. Maybe Londoners are using this season as their last chance to catch high level rugby league relatively locally .. Closing down sale sort of thing.
  6. Tacklers have to learn not to swing an arm into an opponents face / and generally have to fall back in the tackle rather than hit the attacker backwards … once attackers can play without fear of having their head chopped off, they can play more adventurously
  7. I like that they have no sponsor on the shirt but don’t like that it does not have a proper deep chevron
  8. London looked small against/at Fetherstone, they look tiny against Saints
  9. No arms, hit with a shoulder, into the attackers collar bone / neck and head, with the attacker reeling backwards - head falling away …. Come on. Thats dangerous. cut these challenges out of the game and it will become even more exciting
  10. London performing to the expected standard, but how bad are the commentators? Cliche after cliche … Tes even said that London would have to have the ball to be competitive > Doh!. Tes doesn’t seem to understand that London will only score by throwing it around, miracle pass, etc etc It’s going to be like this every week for London. Hopefully the commentators will learn what to do
  11. The rise of Leigh is due to the club + Derek + a busy stadium
  12. It would be accurate to extend that comment to include sustaining the game inside the heartlands. The successful clubs are successful without any great central strategic plan. Think of the clubs in the heartland that have withered or collapsed
  13. Sell the tv rights - 10 year horizon Private equity - 10 year competition rights Super League The French municipality Regional fund
  14. Play France once a year. One year in England, the next in France 3 pm kick off The same weekend, on a Saturday every year The same venues Give the French a £few million a year to galvanise their squad and team Play a 5 Nation Amateur Tournament for students or U21 every year.
  15. With the formation of the Premier League, the number of teams was reduced by 4 or 6 division 1. The revenues per team shot up. And subsequent TV deals have only added more riches. None of which has any relevance for rugby league
  16. Yes. But that’s also true of London. Its not a slight on either - just how it is.
  17. Cardiff > no team. Little interest. ditto East Euro.
  18. Because they will get walloped week in week out. Every game. Meanwhile, they will spend money, that they don’t have, to try and compete. And if they overspend, they’ll go bust - with no assets to sell, to keep them afloat.
  19. I had 2 great days out at Sheffield and Fetherstone , but with the best will in the game, neither of those 2 or London should be playing week in week out the likes of Wigan, Leeds or St Helens.
  20. Reduces the number of games in a season (player welfare, might help us beat Australia in the longer term, higher jeopardy match ups, more events to promote) Recognises that there is a limited (quality) player pool, a handful of big clubs (infrastructure/reach), a need to develop the next level Grand Final would be the best week in week out team - Division 1 winners v best knock out team - CC winners. All clubs enter the CC, like now. CC runner up plays the winner of Division 1 (if Division 1 winner also wins CC) A Division 2, 3 or 4 team could win the CC and would play (& could win) the GF. Unlikely that would happen though, isn’t it. Division 2 teams get 26 league games. 18 against peers, so one would expect close competitive matches. Plus, 8 games against Div 1 clubs - stronger opposition, 4 big home matches with time in advance to promote, 4 big away matches for a day out, a chance to prove & test standards (without getting battered week in week out). For example, take the last 4 in super league + leading 6 in championship = 10 team Division 2. All the teams in the division could give the teams in division 1 a good game as a one off. The arrangement would bring a host of interesting one of derbies … Bradford v Leeds, Feth v Leeds, Catalan v Toulouse, York vs etc. Sheffield get some bigger games to promote etc. The arrangement would remove loop fixtures, remove play offs and re-classify the importance of the CC.
  21. 8 in division 1. 10 in division 2. Division 1 play home and away, plus all 10 sides (once) from division 2. = 24 games. No play offs. Top of Division 1 plays CC Winner in the Grand Final.
