Of course you can't plan without facts and history, none of which you have.

It's easy to point on a forum about telling sky to 'feck off' but without knowing the detail it's a meaningless soundbite.

The Sky deal does also allow us to negotiate with a FTA partner so your part about that doesn't need us to totally get rid of Sky as a broadcast partner does it.

What is it about our partnership with Sky that annoys you?

Also aren't you someone who is against IMG being involved? their stated aims seem pretty similar to what you are suggesting. i.e monetise the sport by increasing the visibility of it.

Very Starmeresque, be careful with the splinters. Your lack of commercial reality is typical of so many  -  we have a great product that is made for TV so obviously we have done brilliantly in extracting its value. I am supportive of IMG but disappointed in results to date

Just because Gallagher are sponsoring RU at £10 million a year, which started when they were only showing 5 FTA games on C5, doesn't mean that RL will get that. RU never has trouble with sponsors, it is quite clear RL does.

Indeed if we didn't then we would be getting £10 million already for showing more FTA games on C4, a more popular channel than C5, than when that RU deal first started.

These are the beliefs of a one eyed non producer - stick to paper shuffling

What would be your grand plan for replacing the £20m per year that we get from Sky after just telling them to feck off?

You can’t have a grand plan without having the detail, and I would be disappointed if there wasn’t an exit period - negotiating the day before a contract expires is something I would not recommend don’t you agree.but the basics would be -
you set the objective - to replace £20m pa of income/costs within 12 months, you then break it down  to chunks or club level and central costs v results. Areas to look at and plan to attack include -
There will be some value on FTA and/or other outlets, ideal solution is a FTA contract at an accepted much lower amount that opens up bigger sponsorship opportunities eg Gallaher sponsor RU at £10m pa

We sell to business that benefit from our strengths, the key being sell not tell.
We reverse the perception of a cheap and nasty sport going nowhere watched by paupers with no disposable to a fast and exciting sport that attracts a mixed and passionate fan base.

basically we start behaving like an ambitious business and not a social club committee

I await your educated response knowing that you can’t plan without facts and history

I’m very glad you’re nowhere near in a position of any influence with regards to running the sport.

And I would never get there believing in low basics, high rewards for success, do not suffer fools, no bullpoop, ownership, drive and passion. Those fundamentals took a loss making business to one making £19m pa - never work in RL of course we need non producing over paid clerks covering each other’s backs

You’re right, we should have walked away and…..oh actually, maybe not, as then the sport would have been bust in a full time professional environment. Absolutely zero chance of getting bigger sponsors then, eh 🙈

We need to build the value we can’t do that via sky in the uk continually driving the price down whilst putting subs up - we can overcome any shortfalll in Y2 imo

With the awful TV deal and high end sponsors showing little to no interest in RL, where else do you suggest clubs get their money from? I do know what you mean, but I'm not sure they have much choice but to milk it for all its worth. And after all, no one is making you buy it.

TV deal is peanuts we should have said fekk it and walked away, Leigh’s home is brilliant quality and looks fantastic on the away has been given a sneak preview tonight and looks the dogs danglies. Loads of positives in RL circles just need to have the gonads to break away from Sky

Except they aren’t free, and the FA are incredibly hot on WSL announced crowds being ‘actual’ crowds, so the sales figures are invariably much higher than the announced figure once non attending season tickets and the like are included.

£60 for an adult season ticket, £30 U16. Plenty offers also. Womens football as a stand alone commercial product is not viable - as a global add on it is for tv fillers

    Thanks Warren 😂😂😂

Your QR code is your actual ticket and seat number (but you would already know that) but you wasn’t there !

Let’s leave it there Eh ?

So you register, get a free ticket with a QR code and all issued tickets are counted - that’s why crowd is given high.

Totally understand why the numbers are inflated btw

Shouldn't have mentioned attendances 🤣 You will be looking numbers up on Wiki as we speak Sweaty !! (almost called you Joey Barton then !)

Lets just say, out of the 8400 who had their QR code scanned v Arsenal this season in the official attendance figures, none of our group of 6 (nor many of the packed north stand) was scanned due to an issue.

It was packed for City last season too.

Anyway, back to the point made that the LSV is used by other teams who are very well attended (and famous) 😉

Irrespective, if SL attendances grow this season with such a huge TV profile, that for me would be a huge success, and good luck to London too for whom I hope really contribute to the competition and get some well attended crowds of their own.

How did you get a QR code - did they send out millions or did you apply like the rest for cheap admission.

every code issued is counted used/scanned or not - the NS v Arsenal was certainly nowhere near full btw as per looking at it on TV despite the 10 shillings for a family of 20 plus as much ale as you can sup offer

As a stand alone Womens soccer gets poor gates, the Intl weekend offers at the mens grounds inflates them massively

Well you need to Harry !!

My Daughter loves watching the MU girls and has done in front of many 10k plus attendances. Leigh just need to replicate this all next year I feel and I think they will !!👍

Man U women have never got 10k paying at LSV even on the cheap tickets they do, this season the highest is about 7k v Liverpool and a couple of 4k’s.
womens soccer attendance relies on the odd game in the main stadium when the Intl window is on

Swaping a player that never let you down last year, for one thats tried to get establised as a SL half back  but couldnt quite crack it, is a backwards step which ever way u dress it up.

"Thanks for sticking with us Joe, but we cant afford to pay u again and keep under the cap. We are going to try and unproven kid, pay him less than you and hope it works out. Dont worry though ive had a word at salford, they will take you"

He’s left a one year deal to take up a 2 year, and affording him is not a factor

Pretty shrewd signing by Salford I reckon. Always thought we looked a more composed team when he was on. Ipape got all the plaudits for the explosive plays, but Mellot’s passing off the floor was much better and he didn’t miss many tackles either.
And he’s a better stand off than the player picked ahead of him, purely for goalkicking last season.

If Sailor is a done deal, then Mellor drops to 4th or 5th half back, assuming Sailor to FB with OB and Zak cover. Hooker we have Edwin, Smith and McNamara. Mellor was brilliant off the bench last year imo and I am glad he had the past 2 great years to compensate for 21 before leaving us. Wish him well at Salford

    Not according to Mr Lam

Lam also confirmed an enquiry for Tristan Sailor, son of dual code great Wendell Sailor.

But he doesn’t expect to recruit the speedy Brisbane Broncos back anytime soon.

“If there was a possibility of course we would be interested,” said Lam. “He is someone I have coached before and have a good working relationship with.

“I enquired about him in the last six to eight months but unless something changes within our dynamics as a group that’s all it was. We have a full house here at the moment.”

Yet owner confirms one incoming subject to Visa and Sailors visa is not a given

  14. 2 new names on the kit at Leigh and a record total sponsorship, great potential with Holland and Barrett. Season ticket sales approaching 5000 with the cheapest adult at £300 and corporate almost sold out - about 2300 last year. Some great signings to build the squad, Moylan looks a great one and settled well. One last one to come will it be Sailor??
