There are teams in both of those places you mentioned.
lol
I was a gold ST holder at Broncos from 2000 to 2019. We had 3 ST's for that entire time, bought a top every year, have the 2 special tops created for the relevant bashes in the 201x's.. Have the LBSA acadamy top from 3 years ago...
I've paid my dues and more for RL in London as a fan.- 5

If England win one I will be surprised tbh.
I'd be amazed if Tonga win one.... Be interesting to see how Tonga perform on tour.... One game might be close, but this has England 3-0 written all over it

I've done my Pilgramage to the M62 already this year for the France test, so not attending any. Will happly attend a test match in London / Midlands, let me know when the RFL realise there is a world outside the M62...

Broadcast all games does not mean all games will be on Sky sports TV channels. Sky sports have multiple you tube channels, and also have the ability to show games behind the red button.
They could broadcast three games at the same time, one on Sky Sports action and the other two behind the red button on sky sports action for instance

You meant the Democrats, right?
Dont want to get into politics on a RL thread. Let me just say therefore like the American political system as a whole

Yes but I wonder how much they are on as no talks about Basketball and even Ice Hockey.
You can't compare BBL and Ice Hocky with RL
Niether of them are as reliant on TV money and SKY as RL is.
So they live much better within their means, and they don't need either sky money or super rich benifactors to survive -

I don't know if you have info or are just guessing, but I **hope** (with zero confidence) that the RFL will get ahead of this and have urgent talks with all the clubs to ascertain viability.
We're going to get nowhere just sitting back and waiting for more clubs to hit the buffers...
I have 0 info. But a division of 8 teams will never fly, so League 1 as it stands right now is not going to have a 2024 season with this few teams. So either something has to happen to make L1 viable, or the clubs in it will have to play at a different level in order to survive

And the other five ?
ooh misread.. the other 5 no clue (NWC, Midland probably 2 of them, then south yorks possibly in Sheff and Donny) I would guess

I hope I am wrong but I don't think Thunder will be the last club to fold before 2024 season starts.

Looking forward to seeing exactly how "derby" Cornwall's "derby" fixtures are.
London or Tolouse would be that fixture, if that restructing comes to pass

The good news is that SL is nowhere near reliant on one source of income.
SO if Sky walked away tomorrow SL would be fine? Salaries would be paid?

Super league is in an ok place, after the most exciting season for years and attendances up. For most of the rest though, it seems in a state of decline with the retreat back to the heartlands happening at pace.
Is it though. Could SL be in an OK place if SKy reduce the funding again by another 5M in three years..
While SL is 100% reliant on one source of income, and that source of income is shrinking every deal, I would question if SL is in a good place off the field -

To be fair to the RFL, my understanding was this was one of the options put forward by them at the recent meeting. It was the Championship clubs who voted against it. Sane logic as the SL league clubs not wanting to expand because of reduced funding. Probably the risk of say 4 clubs being relegated to L 1 this season
it may ultimately be taken out of their hands if deemed for the good of the overall structure
Yea thats why I put RL not RFL
The RFL clubs are like the republican party in the US, they know how to oppose things, but have no clue on how to actually govern, as they are unable to put the own Short term interests aside for the good of the game, even though that will doom them longer term.

Or the most sensible outcome would be when Gradings come out make 3 leagues with the 12 best in top flight the nxt best 12 in champ and then the other 10 in league one, yes that is a extreme measure but we’re not in a position of strength and some tough calls need to be made tbf.
This also works for me but the likes of Doncater or Swinton might disagree here

Merge L1 and Champ so each club gets 21 matches. And then split into a 12 team Champ and 10 team L1 for 24-25.
This is the only real sensible outcome, which means ofc RL will never accept it

so what do we have left
- 1 in cumbria
- 2 in midlands / south
- 1 in NW Wales
- 2 in Lancs \ GM
- 2 in Yorks
Have I missed anyone here.

Despite the handwringing on here the truth is most RL fans couldn't give a monkey's about clubs outside the heartlands. In fact, many of them actively dislike these clubs.
In the end, you get what you want.
100% agree
Then come crying when the only reason they exist in the form they do (Sky TV Money), tells them that they are reducing their spending money, as these people outside the M62 are not subscribing to watch the M62 only game, and the M62 located fans are not paying enough in their Sky subscriptions to ensure that Sky keeps funding at the levels they need.
How many Professional clubs in SL would survive as Professional clubs with no Sky money. 5? 6?- 8

Right now I would not form any new clubs for L1 until we know exactly from IMG what the future would be for a new club entering L1

Would you recommend that the former West Wales Raiders re-form, locating themselves at Bristol?
No, the All golds was the local team, and they went back to semi-pro
Those area's not ready for club RL outside the amateur game.
But this Thread is about staging international games in major tournaments. The last WC held in England where we staged games outside the M62 (2013) was a big success. The M62 WC in 2022 did ok, but did not hit the heights of 2013.- 2

really don't see how L1 can go one with so few clubs
Thats WWR, then Skolars, now Thunder. all gone.

Exactly. Folk outside the traditional areas won't change their ways and go to games on their doorsteps.
I was in the sell out Crowd in Bristol for the game between the might of the Cook Islands vs the USA. PLace was heaving..... So something must have happened to get the people of Bristol (those die in the wool League supporters since 1896) to attend

I think attendance will kill them unless they pull a miracle and get at least 5,000 at each home game.
If we (London) put say 2000 carboard cutouts of Big Cliffy at both ends of PL, and had a Tannoy go every 5 mins with "Your a khazy ref" could we have that count as attendance?

They are not a draw in the heartlands where the same people are asked to fork out for all three games....
Now make it outside of the Heartlands, market the England team, have interviews on BBC with the key players and also on SSN. Make it all about England playing smash mouth rugby....
If we had had a test in London, I'd have been having it advertised in all the three NFL london games, have an interview at half time of the NFL games etc
