  1. I just picked this up from the Barrow Raiders forum. Pretty interesting stuff. "Raiders didn't vote against any change to the structure, there was no vote, only a discussion. What we did say was that we are tired of the constant chopping and changing to the structure. We said to look at football and the pyramid system they have and that every team in the country from grass roots upwards should have the opportunity to progress with the caveat that promotion to a higher division should be with minimum standards. We said the Championship had been a great league this season but we recognised that League One was broken and suggested that some top conference sides might be invited to take their chances. There was also a suggestion that Wigan, St.Helens and Hull might enter B teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spanish football. We have since written to the CEO and suggested an interim season of one division with a view to a 12 team Championship in 2025 and 10 team League One but with the mission to get two extra teams to also take League One to 12 teams. The one division of 22 teams would play each other once and 5 loop fixtures to ensure the 13 home games that we are selling season tickets for. Top 6 play-offs. top 11 in the Championship for 2025 and a play-off for the remaining place for teams 12th to 17th. That should keep an interest for most right to the end of the season."
  2. The lack of any reaction from your supporters on your own forum about signing a top lad like Nelmesy speaks volumes about your disinterest generally in your club. A thread on here about Mayfield is more interesting to you lot it seems!!
  3. Be careful what you wish for https://roughyeds.co.uk/2023/10/well-done-mate/
  4. What makes you think he'll end up in the centre?
  5. I guess Fordy and the board have confidence in them that they will perform. These are, in the main, tried and trusted pros who have shown what they are made of many times previously. Plus offering 2 year deals is more of an incentive to join us rather than sign elsewhere I guess.
  6. I thought he only signed to the end of this year initially
  7. Already signed - Whittel, Ellis & Johnson plus Wardle & Turner already announced
  8. Spot on - well said - I believe CH was an accountant in a previous life, so whilst getting paltry crowds through the turnstiles with dwindling central income & players who always got paid, the fact we had a club at all is perhaps because of him, not despite him.
  9. Widnes have announced several departures just now including a few guys we have been linked with https://widnesrugby.com/blogs/widnes-vikings-departures-end-2023/
  10. As an Oldham fan, i'm chuckling at you bracketing Rochdale with Cornwall & Midlands .
  11. Absolutely nothin darling
  12. At last the truth is out - Anita is a BLOKE !!
  13. Here it is Logic:- https://roughyeds.co.uk/2023/09/awards-night-winners-revealed/
  14. And still the CH cynicism continues! In actual fact, CH SAVED us from extinction on a good number of occasions. Unlike the last committee in 'Sheddings days.
  15. Just a thought re. IMG & what is happening this time next year. Am I right in thinking there is only one more season of automatic promotion & relegation, ie 2024? In that case, assuming our new-look team wins promotion next year, we will be in the Championship in 2025 & can't be automatically relegated? Whereas for the 2 unfortunate teams (possibly Dewsbury and Doncaster) who are relegated next year, they will be stuck in League One in 2025 and can't be automatically promoted? So I reckon we are better off in League One in 2024. Does that make sense or am I talking through my hat . i JUST POSTED THIS ON A DIFFERENT THREAD - GREAT MINDS VALDERAMA

  17. Didn't he play for Oldham in the 70s? I know we need some experience, but........ No, ignore me, just checked, I'm thinking of Walczak !
  18. Be very tough on Sunday, Doncaster have 3 overseas proven top players in Vete, Fonua & Boas, none of whom played against us earlier this year. If we win, it will certainly be a very impressive result. Come on Oldham!
  19. For a start, Whittel, Johnson, Ellis & Jordan Turner are already signed for next year as we know of.
  20. If we are considering Vulcans because there was a Vulcan Street near 'Sheddings, there was, of course, a Herbert Street too. Oldham Herberts???
  21. Huddersfield were once known as Barracuda's
  22. Very good, this in bold really made me smile I particularly like the name Valkyrie for the York Womens team, very original. A Valkyrie is a female warrior from Norse mythology apparently! Something different & original like that might work. I guesst the Oldham Donuts is a non-starter!!
  23. Because we live in a civilised society where social media/platforms like this are allowed to wreck peoples lives. I hate it.
