What a game. And what a crowd. Testament to the mighty Colin Hawkyard. A fighter. A gentleman. A Roughyed.
Had a tear in my eye watching that video clip.

This was on the Oldham website:-

RIP Sir.

Mick Worrall deserves a mention here, as do Ray Ashton & Paddy Kirwan. Great players in a very different era for the game. In the CH era, my favourites were John Hough, Keith Brennan, Danny Langtree, Lewis Palfrey, Richard Lepori, Lucas Onyango & Neil Roden.

Get where your coming from but if we beat them 3 times I cant really see us losing 4
You seriously think you'll beat us 3 times out of 4 - we shall see

There's nothing more appealing than a winning team! Hopefully that's what we will have. Trouble is fans are fickle. One loss or a draw or even a close win and the the doom mongers will be out!!

Lots of options as Mr Quinn says, I can vouch that the hospitality is superb for anyone fancying one of the packages inc. that.
Good savings across the year. Lots to look forward to. Come on Oldham!

Bit of a shame the the roughyheads meeting took place in front of an Oldham Pathetic logo.
Apologies for my fatty fingers typing…possibly a typo or two in there.
Relations between Oldham Rugby & Latics have never been better & I'm sure that was requested by Latics, for their benefit. Being as we are now playing at Boundary Park & using their excellent facilities for events such as this, I'm sure no-one from the rugby was going to argue.

Correct me Andy if I'm wrong, but has anyone from the Oldham club gone public saying they aim to go undefeated in League One next year? Or is that just terrace talk?
-
They've just announced Riddy as well.

Gutted to be losing Wilko, especially to the hairnets. You’ve got the best 9 in the comp and should be playing in the champ to be honest, no idea why we didn’t keep him on our books looks like a fall out with Ford
Mate, you have no idea whether he fell out with Ford or not! Rugby is all about opinions, perhaps Ford thought he wasn't good enough for the new squad hes developed.

One thing about Astley is that he's never going to let us down.
Bludey 'ell Dave , let's hope he runs around for us but never deserts us

Be nice to sign someone we've heard of
Bit disrespectful to the 2 lads that, Matty Fletcher is a fine forward, works his nackers off , played for us at Oldham before doing very well at Cru.

Totally agree with this, Oldham completely dominated Widnes until Lawton came onto the field what a fantastic signing, how good was we at the start of last season with our attacking brand of rugby can’t wait to see what Sean long brings. Great signing of Lawton.
seems strange to let Wilkinson go to bring in Tom Forber ?
Are you suggesting we've signed Forber?

Great signing, I said the when he originally signed and one or two called him after a couple of early errors. He went on to be one of top players cart season. We are building a great back line. I suspect Nick may finish up in the centre this year but will be strong wherever he plays
What makes you think he'll end up in the centre?

The released list was confirmation of the players that Oldham were not in contract negotiations. Those not on the list are players that the club wish to explore the opportunity to retain but will also be subject to offers by other clubs.
It’s interesting that the players the club are bringing in are on 2 year deals, which provides stability beyond next season however, if the players don’t perform as expected will require some form of pay off to release from the 2nd year of their contracts. A bit of a risk particularly without a coach being in place.
I guess Fordy and the board have confidence in them that they will perform. These are, in the main, tried and trusted pros who have shown what they are made of many times previously. Plus offering 2 year deals is more of an incentive to join us rather than sign elsewhere I guess.

Have the club released a definitive list of who was already signed from last year? Or will they be released as part of the 'media' push?
Already signed - Whittel, Ellis & Johnson plus Wardle & Turner already announced

I am guessing 24 game season, play each other three times, Twice at home and once away for four teams and the reverse for the other four teams. If I am right, ( and according to my wife I never am) the thought of visiting Le parque de Spotland twice must excite you all.
At last the truth is out - Anita is a BLOKE !!

Halifax
in Oldham RLFC
Posted
For anyone thinking this will be easy, a touch of realism is required. Halifax are the holders & won't give it up lightly. They are a very good side with classy backs especially. If we do happen to win, it will be massive in every way, in terms of building the public interest even more, not to mention being a step on the road to the Holy Grail that is Wembley.
