I hope Cornwall is a huge success, but wouldn’t 2023 have been a better year to start so they could get everything sorted instead of having to rush around now ?.

To play requires players.Simple. Who is signed up? The clock is ticking.

    You may!

I have worked with some of those behind the club on another Rugby League-related project in Cornwall. I can attest to their determination to make this succeed, and confirm that it is in very safe hands.

Whatever little snippets of up-to-date information I have is not for me to report. There is, as I understand it, a lot of dotting i's and crossing t's going on, and it is only right that those doing the dotting and crossing spread the news when ready.

My personal involvement has nothing to do with the administration of Cornwall RLFC (it is 'passionate and peripheral', for want of better terms!)

What is your occupation? Marketing?  Call center? What work did you perform behind the scenes?

Player trials are due to take place in December so will be interesting to see what comes out of that. Hopefully there’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes regarding recruitment and announcements imminent as lots of players are getting tied up

We don’t trial anymore. You scout.

The thought that lads can just turn up for trials and then play against seasoned professionals in League 1 is laughable. They might find a few players, not a whole squad.

Even locals who have  played to a good standard in rugby Union will struggle. This is all coming across very naive and rushed.

Yes the old chestnut.. We can play League cos we have played Union..👍

    Worked for me.

The only odd bit is that above the credit card box you have to enter the code and whilst is says the code is applied, there is nothing to show the usual annual amount (£129) less the discount. You just have to hit pay and assume it is deducted.

So there is a bit of faith involved there.

But it went through and £60 on my CC.

They are right there is no option to select RL on the list of sports when you sign up - but all good.

Never has been an option to select RL.

I’m more bothered about the fact that Salford have been allowed to operate at this ‘elite level’ without running an academy. If this move allows them to consolidate themselves financially through increased revenues on match days etc and invest in an academy then that’s a massive plus.

Wasn’t selected clubs given the go head for academies?

Surely it is only in the third tier semi-professional Rugby League that  somebody can come along, willing to spend their own money to bring the sport to a place where there are not a dozen or more clubs already scrambling around to attract the same customers only to be told it can't be done and anyway we don't want you breaking into our private little  world because you are too faraway.

Of course it may flop just like a few others in the past and League One clubs will have to fork out a few extra pounds to travel to Cornwall (they wont have to travel  twice ALLTHE WAY up to Cumbria next season. but they are not about to raid the diminishing player pool (at least not by much) so let's give it a go and give Perez and Co a chance. If all the doom merchants get their way and it does fail in the end it is hardly going to be earth shattering  - just confirmation that the game is for North of England and Southern France and that the elite (currently called Super League) is nothing more than The Trans-Pennine and District League.(plus French guests).

What do you mean by their own money? I stopped reading after that. Not being ignorant.

Given their involvement with TWP and then trying to put an Ottawa team together before Covid (and SL’s parochial clubs) put a stop to it I think they know what it takes to put a competitive L1 team together.

We are talking L1. No SBW’s required. All suffered from COVID not only what falls within your interest.

It is definitely to get the stadium built.  Worry would be once It has been built they dont need you but if cornwall are knocking on door of SL in 4 years could have legs.

They are starting off part time. SL won’t happen in 4 years. The current structure will change when the TV funding is renewed in 2024. Where does that leave them? I nor you know.
