  1. Hi I used to go watch rams play with family back in the days of Barry Eaton playing but unfortunately not been in many years but always come on this forum, watch out for the results and even watch the highlights on youtube and if i can get a free stream watch the games, Going off topic was thinking about the future correct me if i am wrong but Mark Sawyer is 57 ? if correct he's getting towards The big 60 in the not to distant future what do we think will happen once hes not here anymore any indication maybe that someone from the sawyer family will take over ? or even a foreign or English businessman taking over that's got more money ? i wonder if mark has a plan in place ? I know Dewsbury may never be a big big club but with a little more money behind them maybe they could go fulltime ? expend the stadium even more etc etc ? Sometimes something little can make the difference pushing the rugby club a bit further up the pyramid bringing everything up to date technology wise. Wondered if people had any thoughts regards to the next say 10 years going forward what might happen to the mighty Dewsbury Rams ?
  2. We are delighted to welcome Paul March to the club as our new Assistant Coach for 2024. The forty-four-year-old joins the coaching team at FLAIR Stadium alongside Head Coach Dale Ferguson and Assistant Coach Conor Turner. March has a wealth of experience in rugby league playing over four hundred first-class games during a nineteen-year career which included spells at Super League sides Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity. In 2008, he took up his first coaching position as Player-Coach at York Knights before moving to Hunslet and then Keighley Cougars where he won promotion in 2010 and the iPro Sport Cup in 2016. After hanging up his boots, he became Featherstone Rovers Reserves Head Coach and First Team Assistant Coach in 2019, helping guide them to victory in the 1895 Cup as well as a spot in the Million Pound Game before stepping down in 2021. In 2022, he took up his most recent role as Head Coach at Shaw Cross Sharks, which he will continue in. Upon joining the club March said, “I’ve been speaking to Fergie for a few weeks now and I offered to help and advise him where I can, so when he asked me if I’d step up into the role of Assistant Coach I was delighted to accept. I didn’t get a chance to play for my hometown club, but I’m really pleased that I’m now able to help as a coach. Obviously with my Shaw Cross responsibilities I’ve got a good insight into the game at a community level and I’ve also got strong links with the other clubs in the area as well.” Head Coach Dale Ferguson said, “Marchy will be great for us, he’s someone who truly lives and breathes rugby league. He’s worked with some world-class coaches in his time and you can see that straight away, the influence he’s had on both the players and me in a short space of time has been fantastic.”
  3. LAWRENCE DEPARTS RAMS We can today confirm that Nathan Lawrence has left the club for personal reasons. The twenty-eight-year old who originally joined the club on trial from Ossett RUFC, impressed enough to earn in contract in November but has now decided to leave the club. On behalf of everybody at the club we would like to thank Nathan for his efforts during his time here and wish him all the best for the future.
  4. Haven't a clue, Didn't know he did play in one.
  5. We are delighted to announce that Joe Hird has signed on loan for the Rams for 2024 from Sheffield Eagles! The twenty-year-old prop joins us for on-loan from Sheffield Eagles for the 2024 season. Hird joined the South Yorkshire side ahead of the 2023 season, after rising through the ranks at the Leeds Rhinos academy, where he was captain of the reserve side. In 2023, Hird played ten times in total, making appearances for Rochdale and Keighley as well as Sheffield. The club would like to thank Squadbuilder for the help in making this re-signing, to find out how you can contribute to Dewsbury Rams Squadbuilder find out more here, every penny contributed goes directly towards re-signings and new signings. Upon signing Hird said, “I’m really excited to be here and to get going. I’m ready to get stuck in with the boys and have a good 2024 season with them.” Head Coach Dale Ferguson said, “Playing alongside him for Dewsbury in pre-season friendlies I thought he brought a lot for a young middle. He’s a big threat with a good engine and I think he’ll be an asset to our pack, I’m looking forward to seeing him work alongside our other middles.”
  6. Connor Davies Has left to join Liam Finn at Halifax
  7. True, you never know, maybe wishful thinking lol
  8. If i had to take any none Dewsbury players from Batley it would have to be Alistair Leak for his experience at championship level and at 31 years old still got plenty left in the tank
  9. I don't know who the other candidates were but I'm sure mark could of done better if you want to show ambition and spend a little more you got to show it and show the fans you are ambitious from the outside as good as a player he was and he knows the area, team etc i just see it as an easy option, easy way out,it dosent scream ambition to me and i personally don't think Dale is the one to keep us up in the championship and build on the foundations that liam has left us in which are better than before, but i just feel we could of shown something a bit more, but good luck to the lad i do hope he can sign some good players and keep the vast majority of the squad together!
  10. Good luck to Dale, but i think mark has taken the easy option & cheap option to appoint him as head coach unfortunately as it doesn't now show Dewsbury Rams as an Ambitious stable championship Team, I'm sure they could of done a lot better, but it is what it is now hopefully he gets the funds to build a good squad and try and keep most of the current squad together.
  11. Any Rumours on the applicants ? any EX players do we think ? Foreign Coaches ? already out of work coaches ? I assume we wont buy out a contract from a coach that's already in a job. Is anyone in the know on here ?
  12. I know we signed a new player in Perry but was there any rumours or talk regarding who Liam's assistant will be ? knowing Dewsbury it will be Paul Sykes player / coach
  13. I was waiting for them to announce sykes as player / assistant Hope Finn brings in someone from outside the club and some other coaches get rid of all the dead wood and start a fresh.
  14. I see Nathan Graham has left i wonder if Finn will bring his own assistant or any other new staff ?
