  1. Yeah - I actually thought that might interest you! The club is still going but I think it is now separate from the RL club.
  2. Warrington wolves were running a team in the UK league for some years linked to that 2012 Olympic cycle. Part of the TDP to get British players Olympic-ready.
  3. That's a bit near the bone for me. Was in the gym yesterday in a New York RL vest. Once bitten.....
  4. He will kick it off with a double header on the Phillippines... (To be fair to the bloke, his ideas are only slightly more deranged than some of the suggestions on here!)
  5. What exactly is TTR please? (Am just interested in what game is specifically affiliated to the RFL as per your post). Thanks
  6. He asked for another example, as you said there are "plenty" of other sports. I would love to know what sports you mean as well.
  7. Fox gave this incident about 5 seconds coverage on their own show: "Paul Kent is stood down... while deals with some 'personal issues' " Was basically what was said
  8. You had a fixed draw this time!! The organisers were desperate for England to get to the final, so they avoided the Big2.
  9. Who are we kidding that this is a serious international sport?? Channel 9 ("the Home of Rugby League"!!) don't even know what year the World Cup was supposed to be! "Amateurish" doesn't even half describe this shambles
  10. No problem. I think a lot of people aren't aware, but it is probably one of the reasons that the World Cup has remained at 16 teams. It gives "credibility" (some degree) to an otherwise unknown sport in for example Netherlands or Serbia if they have a viable route to WC qualification. If we look at the upcoming Small States Games (which sit under the Olympic umbrella) being played in Malta, a number of nations have secured funding for certain sports based on them attaining medal status. (No medal = funding cuts) League has a relatively easy route to WC qualification compared to some larger sports, so it COULD be a useful vehicle for growing the game, assuming the World Cup tournament operates as a success and actually goes ahead!
  11. I can't stand any of your "opinions" but I will happily tolerate them without resorting to tantrums or name-calling. Why? Because its an internet forum... people have differing viewpoints. I appreciate this is hard for you to grasp.
  12. You can't really scale it down if countries have started on a qualifying process, and potentially gained funding etc from governments, or from sponsors based on a world cup campaign. "Scaling it down" and therefore shutting countries out who are putting processes in place to qualify, effectively kills of rugby league in these developing countries. A realistic route to World Cup qualification (Or Olympic qualification in the case of Olympic sports) is very often how sports secure funding in nations all round the world. Particularly for lesser sports, such as League. That's how the "industry" works. Without that route, a lot of governments won't fund a sport.
  13. Nonsense. Every time there is a thread about League in France on here, we find some old duffer droning on about 'Vichy'. 10 posts about it since the start of April alone. Newsflash: Nobody Cares!
  14. Still... if they aren't attracted by the salary on offer, they might still want to come for the facilities!
  15. Don't. (Unless you want to hear the usual tripe excuses which inevitably include the word "Vichy" )
  16. Absolutely mate. As we can see from here though, the fans were anything but humbled.
  17. Good lad, Troy... no point in rushing these things! It's not as if there is a crisis situation....
