Wylye saint

I am an exiled Saint in Wiltshire and attend Broncos about annually. They have my very best wishes and I know that London is perceived to be very important for the games image and TV contract leverage . However , I am constantly surprised at the amount of press coverage that London receives on these and other blog sites , especially given the tiny crowds that I have witnessed in recent years . Perhaps the interested few are just more erudite!

I was brought up on rugby league but then moved south aged 11 and played union from then on . The old boys club where I played used to send a coach to the Challenge cup final every year . It was seen as great entertainment and a great day out . This no longer happens . In part I think because union has become much more watchable as an entertainment whereas league has moved in the opposite direction , whilst “ the biff” cannot be defended it did add to the entertainment but most relevant is that union now has many more big days out of its own and the search for sporting entertainment is satiated within union without the need to look outside of their own sport. This I believe is part of the reason we no longer get 90k at these games . I also agree that it is seen less as a general celebration of the game and more a celebration for the clubs involved.
