Maybe the RFL wants this arrangement for the immediate upfront money for something they were getting no/less value from?

I see this as selling the rights to something for 3 years, just the same as we do with SL title rights. If the RFL were not bringing in this amount, which they obviously weren't because they wouldn't sell them for less than they were getting, then it's a guaranteed result for the RFL. If IMG don't deliver then the RFL have got more upfront than they would otherwise with any share deal.  If IMG do increase the value then the rights are worth more in 3 years and again the RFL are in a better position.

If selling these right to someone who's supposedly employed to raise your profile and income doesn't raise a red flag nothing will.

He might not have invested a penny in order to take a directorship.

Let's not get carried away with what this means in the grand scheme of things,

It certainly feels a positive step though.

He's bought some shares (almost certainly) from the Foultons. So far they are the only beneficiaries and (likely) still remain the majority shareholding ......

  3. Doctors in Missouri recently made a startling discovery. A 63-year-old patient who went for a routine colon screening was found to have an intact fly in his colon. The doctors had no idea how the fly survived the perilous journey through the patient’s digestive enzymes and stomach acid.

As a professor of anatomy, I come across many such stories of strange things found inside people – foreign bodies, we call them. Here is a roundup of some of them.

My favourite 'Shoot' feature was You Are The Ref, which examined typical everyday incidents a ref might have to deal with.

"The away team is attacking when an alien spaceship appears above the stadium and uses laser guns to shoot the ball. How should you resume play?"

Yeah, but without telling you if the ball burst surely that's unanswerable?

    Possibly.

There will be one 1895 Cup group that has two L1 clubs, the rest will all have two Championship clubs - On the basis that it is made as local as possible my guess is:

Group 1 - Barrow, Whitehaven, Workington

    Group 2 - Widnes, Swinton, N Wales

Group 3 - Sheffield, Doncaster, Midlands

Group 4 - Wakefield, Dewsbury, Hunslet

Group 5 - Bradford, Batley, Keighley

Group 6 - Halifax, Oldham, Rochdale

Group 7 - Featherstone, York, Newcastle

Groups are supposedly going to be both regionalised AND seeded so some interesting groupings there.

I'd agree. The purpose of this loan is probably less clear however, as iirc the one you reference was intended to support progressing ground development, specifically the use of the land to become revenue generating.

The one I referenced was to pay wages back in 2016. CC was charged with getting change of land designation into the local plan in 2018

Given this blokes previous interest in RL, being a joint owner of Wakefield, and showing an interest in taking over Bradford, I wonder if he’s taking on any kind of role, or it’s just a loan?.

The last bloke to lend the club money became, and is still listed as an active, director

I can't say for sure, but unusual to agree to a charge against an asset without some benefit in return, usually financial.

I'd imagine it's a similar arrangement as with the loan from Colm Corran several years ago ie repaid with interest

If lending Fev money  some type of security would be wise.

They are also told that if they do play in it they have to pay 500k for the privilege.

They're 'invited' to play in the CC in the same way that I'm 'invited' to holiday in the Maldives every year.

Good grief, this was sorted several years ago

What Cas bodge? They're doing the work to meet the criteria, that's the idea.

Have you actually looked at their proposals? If they undertake the work it'll worsen the experience of  the average fan and really is just a box tick exercise.

Earlier today a friend and I were discussing the changes we've seen to clubs' stadiums/grounds between our first and last visits spanning the last 50 years+ and agreed that there's been essentially no change to those of Cas, Keighley, Wakefield* and Workington. Almost every other club has improved their ground beyond recognition through development or moving, with Sheffield being a possible exception.

*this will certainly change in the next year
