  1. more of a case of the town board confirming their position? hopefully some news very soon
  2. https://cumbriacrack.com/2023/01/02/workington-town-chairman-says-new-stadium-vital/
  3. agree with the need for some news and consultation with fans ASAP we've heard nothing for yonks. it's reds AGN soon so I'm guess it will be brought up again I seen in the press copelans got 49m from the town deals a couple of weeks ago with sellafiled also throwing in 11m, oddly enough the cash seems to be for only Millom and clestor moor.
  4. when mark put an end to the stadium he wasn't an MP. it was the local elections in May 2019 or 2018. the tories and Independents campaigned and one of their pledges was to cancel the so called costly super stadium that allerdale Labour where proposing. so the good people of allerdale which covers a vast area took control of the council away from labour and therefore binned the stadium. so yes we can blame Mark Jenkinson for cancelling it, but ultimately the people of allerdale at the time didn't want it and made sure it didn't happen.
  5. wonder if he went to the fans forum and quizzed the directors and aired his concerns?
  6. yeah I agree with you on the need for some news now, it's been along time since that evening at the Carnneigie
  7. dave bowden said in the reds hospitality on sat it will be up within 2 years.

  9. will our facilities tick the box? asking for a friend?
  10. directors from both clubs talking about the need for a new stadium, it's been mentioned in recent town updates as well, but hey what do the folks running the clubs know. I'm guessing if people no better then put yourself forward to be board member.
  11. where have I said it will fix every problem? and you are asking the wrong person for details go and ask the people on the development panel.
  12. I attend both football and rugby and both grounds are badly rundown and through no fault of the volunteers of both clubs. but they are old cash drains on both clubs.
  13. no but I'm not claiming to know what kind of stadium we are or are nor getting, im waiting to see the plans before passing judgment, as said above the people heading the program and very credible people and very approachable so please get in contact with them if you have reservations.
  14. have you seen the plans? to know that it will be a bus shelter?
  15. the money has to be spent on the BP site, it is not allowed to be spent anywhere else this is part of the agreement with the goverment in the application for funding. also the access road going into derwent park isn't suitable unfortunately. it is what it is. also if anyone went to the presentation in the carneigie they would have seen phase 1 is erecting the stand which would then unlock funding for stage 2 and 3 which would be the other sides being developed.
  16. the people trying to get this new stadium, the only 2 named on the stadium management committee are David Bowden and John Pleasants.
  17. no that was just a general comment of mine saying we are having to use facilities in a another town due to lack of them at BP
  18. our last set of jpl fixtures. 4 teams all playing In whitehaven on the same day. that's over 50 players and potentially parents who'd spend money in a facility In workington https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02aiCevcxrCiVnD2sSMoXNF2JLS4zktgk4TBZ3fLbqRemF3KP6SWuVzpNYdGQZJ95jl&id=912780598862176&sfnsn=scwspmo
  19. no one has seen the plans, yet most of us are looking at this in a positive light, not just for reds and town but for the whole community its not just about reds and town.
  20. is that a serious question? so if the kids were using our ground in workington, parents would be coming along, inturn spending money on drinks and food in the ground.
  21. Barrow AFC train at Salford college.
  22. it's a varied mixture if you mean locals as in cumbrians yes, but some come from kendal, Appleby, barrow. and we have 7/8 travellers out of about a 22 man squad from liverlool/Manchester. we've always trained there to make it easier to attract travellers apparently.
