It is now a term of abuse that both towns of West Cumbria use for each other especially at Workington/Whitehaven rugby league derby matches. Anyway, for some good photoography, check out Microsoft's new search engine, called Bing. Every day the backdrop is a different photograph. Mainly landscapes, but also nature shots too. So far, some of them (I've had Bing as my homepage for about a month) have been superb. I use a circular polarizer which helps to reduce reflections from the sea, darken the blue in the sky and also increases overall colour saturation. The saturation of individual colour channels are tweaked in selctive areas in photoshop and contrast ramped up a bit. For the sunset I used an orange graduated Cokin filter to enhance the colours It helps that the Greeks paint their buildings in these great colours and you get fantastic light on Santorini.
