What Are You Listening To - The Reckoning

Pushing Too Hard - The Seeds

Great physcadelic/early garage punk single from 1966. Very groovy. Love it.

This is one of those records I once heard on John Peel and had to wait for the You Tube age to hear it again. The production and sound remind me a lot of 'heart full of stone' by The Yardbirds.

I assume you own a copy of the legendary 'Nuggets' compilation? If not, do so - great stuff.

I don't own that but I do own the single of The Electric Prunes' 'Too Much To Dream Last Night' which I think might be on that compilation.

I could google it to check but that's no fun.

It is. The whole album is a great overview of that style of music.

Phil Manzanera - Guitarissimo. A compilation of the best tracks from his first four solo albums. A pretty dazzling array of guest artists, and a superb cover version of 'Tomorrow never knows' too.

Ramones - I Don't Want You

Hungry Heart - Bruce Springsteen which was actually wrote by Springsteen for Joey Ramone after they met in New Jersey when Springsteen went to see the Ramones but after his record company heard it they told him to record himself.

We cycled through an identikit housing estate today and saw a bloke washing his car. He shouted at my kids that the ball they were playing with was his son's, "who lives at THIS house" as he shouted for some reason, as though his son might live next door or something. I had a sudden yearning to play Pleasant Valley Sunday by the Monkees, so I did when we got home.

It took a while to grow on me but it is a fine album. Some great guitar riffs especially on my favourite track Takin' My Time, very dark and blues influenced.

Mike Campbell is one my all-time favourite guitarists. But, from a little on-line research, it looks like the CD mix of the album is yet another victim of the 'loudness wars'. :(

Just bought The Beatles - Let It Be cd. The naked version without all the Phil Spectre production on it. Very interesting listening totaly lays out the original studio recording stripped down before some of the tracks were touched by Spectre. I'm liking it a lot.

Greatest song ever written. Has Dylan ever written anything like this? No. Because he simply doesn't have the chops.

Creedance Clearwater Revival - Born On The Bayou

Bloomin' great tune. One of the best intros ever recorded plus an excellent solo by John Fogerty.
