I quite like this, but I haven't heard much of their other stuff yet.

Not a single song as such but this month's record collector has a great feature on the best soul albums of 1973.

Usually I like rock, but I played some of the cds and they are amazing and socially aware. A follow on to Marvin Gaye and what's going on. The O'Jays Ship Ahoy is almost progressive. I also like Teddy Pendergrass who was lead singer of Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes.

It's worth a look if you can.

I've heard this *so many* times. But this is the kind of performance that makes you think you're hearing it for the first time. Stunning.

Doing every UK Chart Top 50-75 from 1976-1983....I call it the New Wave years but the amount of variety back then was amazing even through you still had loads ###### like a lot of the American Soul but found some classics I never knew about that didn't make the dirty 30 and stuff like this that never gets Radio Airplay.

I claim no credit for finding this - the algorithm led me there!

But it's a nice groove with a bit of a Seventies feel.

This just won "Best Song" at the 2023 Grammy Awards. People who know are overjoyed for her, while pubescent music bloggers are losing their minds because she's not Adele, Beyoncé or Taylor Swift.

Congratulations, Bonnie, you legend!

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan gets the heavy metal treatment. Surprisingly effective.

Another Andre Antunes mashup, but this one is heavier by far!

I looked at what's just taken place in Liverpool and I knew this needed reviving as a swansong.

“I was trying to feel some kind of good-bye. I mean I’ve left schools and places I didn’t even know I was leaving them. I hate that. I don’t care if it’s a sad good-bye or a bad good-bye, but when I leave a place I like to know I’m leaving it. If you don’t you feel even worse.”
