Manic Street Preachers - New Art Riot.

Title track from their debut EP. I've been putting together a manic's top 50 (it's a thing with my brother) and although this is somewhere in the middle it's got a nagging riff that I can't get out of my head. It also highlights how brilliant Richeys lyrics were even this early in their career - 'hospital closures kill/more than car bombs ever will'

You'll need this, then...

Haha, I'm aware of it, but since I know next to zero about the round ball code i have no frame of reference for what it's all about!

B-Side of Gary Gilmore's eyes, 'Bored Teenagers' is ace, as is their first album.

..just bored teenagers; see themselves as strangers...

I'd almost forgotten the Soft Machine altogether! And Gary Gilmore's Eyes! And I was practicing CPR on Friday

When I should be a main character on the sleepless thread I tend towards Toronto on the box, Lady-day. Ella and Louis interspersed with a few even moldier oldies and people long gone.

We should give back the Elgin Marbles as a thank you for this track and as part of Professor T's soundtrack brilliant! It

And then there is this ice-cold slice of 80's post-punk awesomeness.

Emmylou Harris singing Chuck Berry's You Never Can Tell.  I'm not a country music fan normally, but I must say her version is better than Berry's. Brilliant.
