Money should be spent on equipment. No comment about the lack of funding and equipment by the Government, or the monies from Leeds Uni, now in dire financial trouble due to mismanagement, ploughing money into the Rhinos and the Union team. Bob Fowler Posted December 15, 2009 Share Posted December 15, 2009 Each recruiting office has a budget to work with, each decides for itself how best to spend that budget, if the Army believe that sponsorship is a way forward then so be it. I worked for a charity and we used some of our budget to sponsor different events ( including Rovers games) we actually did quite well off the majority and we did not lose money in the long term. The cost of advertising would perhaps be much more than is being spent on sponsorship and may not have as good a result. Fev Rovers establish a special relationship with the Army stemming from a Cup tie a couple of years back, launch an innovative scheme to mutually help two great institutions, the Army and our club, linked in with all kinds of interesting and useful looking community projects. And what does the editor of the Yorkshire Post have to say? He says that the club is taking money from the pockets of brave soldiers and their families. Pathetic. I was advised by Kevin that we are letting the Army reply. When you think about it a kick in the watsits from the recruiting commanding officer will be the best reply. The special comments about recruiting and special rfelationship and how the funds will be spent are spot on. Th end result will be that the Army benefits. When you think of the millions hived off by so called entrepreneurs who engage in arms deals and then dont supply the equipment and not prosecuted, you would think they should be the targets.See today's Private Eye.
