My wife said it was a good 8-10 inch deep outside our back door.  I got a smack on the head for sniggering.  Didn't help that I'd just seen this:

Drifting is going to be the issue around here. Had to park on the road earlier, as the lane is 3 foot deep in places where it's blown about. Could be interesting in the morning if we get any more and the wind doesn't drop.

Please view my photos.

If it carries on like it has round here I can see damp footprints in the kitchen when the cat comes in.

That is not snow...this is snow.  The marker say 11 feet.

Some people (including companies) are just tools.

Round here yesterday the advice waa quite clearly do not travel. And from 3pm it was red - risk to life. Yet many think they are too important - many spent the whole night stuck on the motorway.

Watching from our apartment last night and people were still going out driving at 8pm despite this being 5hrs into the Red warning.

Tucked up safely overlooking Arthur's Seat, it sure is impressive!

Good to see that Wiltshire and the rest of the West Country is only getting the traditional white snow! #saynotoyellowsnow

PS If this was on the Cultural Wars thread, would my comment class me as a White Snowpremacist?

Had it like that around here before, although it's not common. Working from home today as our village is now inaccessible and my main road to work is also closed.

No more snow worthy of the name here in Hastings (I think surrounding areas have a fair bit) but the wind is an absolute bee-hatch right now and the brass monkeys are eunuchs.

Pretty much the same here on the north west coast. How will we cope?

Must-attend meeting today in east London, car is out because roads are unsafe. Decided on the train. Bus to train station was slipping on compacted snow going up a hill. Grit is ineffective because of the -11C effective, -5C real temperature.

Most trains cancelled and those operating are slow. Train and station staff doing an outstanding job keeping them running and open.

I am billing for a full day for this rather than the half day planned just for the damned inconvenience.

Regardless of that, I look at Scotland and Ireland and am thankful that I’m not there, especially Ireland later today.

Yellow snow has a totally different meaning over here...never taste or drink yellow snow!  All children are taught this over here.

Yes but that's fairly standard for most of the time.
