gingerjon
it's the severest weather warning I've ever seen. According to the warnings this morning the north has had up to 20cm. Tonight and tomorrow the south is expecting up to 40cm. Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. Steve May
our 18 year old cat is too senile to know. Well, I thought ours was too thick to know but he does. The odd thing is he doesn't seem to have any idea of the permanency of it all. He wants to go out the back but he can't because of the snow. So he then goes and has a look out the front, just in case it hasn't snowed on that side of the house. He then discovers that it has so he goes to the back door in the hope that the snow will suddenly have disappeared in the minute since he last looked. English, Irish, Brit, Yorkshire, European. Cats are f*cking riduculous creatures - maybe the snow will finally stop them shitting all over my flower beds Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in. I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens. Steve May
The flip side to this unusually cold weather for us is that some parts of the World are being bathed in unusual warmth for the time of year. In Yakutsk they're all pleased because the temperature hasn't once dropped below -35 degrees, which is 10 degrees hotter than normal. Or should that be "less cold" than normal? Wendall
If your Sky dish is easily accessible from a window then get a nice soft broom, lean out and very gently dust the snow off the dish. I've had to do this a few times in the past few weeks. Don't come blaming me if your Sky dish pack up or you fall out of the window and die. Cheers for the tip!! It came on in the end, just as I had finished my home working stint!!! Just watching the news and all the talk is of the bad weather in the South, the Home Counties and Scotland. Its as if the North West of England is somehow non existent!!!

Its as if the North West of England is somehow non existent!!! As per usual. The north of the country could completely disappear under one huge blanket of snow and it would barely rate a mention on the national news, they get a light dusting in London and the world is coming to an end! Ullman
Thats shorts and t shirt weather in Hull. It was lovely in Pave beer garden. You should have popped down for one. Steve May
According to the warnings this morning the north has had up to 20cm. Having just thrown Monty out so he can go and sh!t in Kenilworth Tiger's garden I can reveal that the snow in Marsden is approximately three quarters of a cat deep. Here in Huddersfield it's over 9 month old kitten height in places...they're loving it! I'm so grateful to a couple of the girls at work...one gave me a lift half way back home...and the other lent me her wellies because her dad picked her up....all the buses were off but I'm pleased with my effort back up this bloomin hill I live on Whilst I do not suffer fools gladly, I will always gladly make fools suffer A man is getting along on the road of wisdom when he realises that his opinion is just an opinion

Griff9of13
Well the forcast was correct, they said it would start to snow here at 6pm from the hotel window at 7pm 1 hour after it began "it is a well known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it." My daughter and her friends built an igloo in Pearson Park this afternoon. She's just been showing me the photos on her phone. It looks absolutely brilliant. Hannibal
Purely in the interest of providing you all with up to date information, and not with any intention to gloat, I can tell you that it is definitely not snowing here in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I've had to do this a few times in the past few weeks. Don't come blaming me if your Sky dish pack up or you fall out of the window and die. Its due to snow in Bedford soon. I'll have 30 dishes to keep clear...ranging from 1.1m to 13m!! Oh Joy!!! With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Padge
This morning you couldn't get off our estate, all the roads off go onto main roads that lead to the M6 since that had ground to halt all the major routes were solid to the M6 which hemmed everyone in on the estate. Turned around went home and emailed my boss to say I had abandoned my attempt to get in to the office and would work from home and that I heard he had abandoned getting into the office as well. His reply was that he hadn't abandoned getting to the office, he never entertained it. In Wigan gritters were out until 4:00am when they decided grit wasn't enough and sent out the snow ploughs, it was that bad the weight of snow they were trying to shift snapped the plough off one of the wagons. Some horendous stories from neighbours and colleagues about this mornings journeys. 1hr 40m to go 2 mile and then be sent home, 3 hours to just go around in a circle to get back home and next door did 3h 30m to get to Kirby to be sent home after half an hour. Anyone leaving home after about 8:30 didn't get far at all. Next comes the big freeze tonight with everything on the roads being turned to sheet ice making the roads possibly more dangerous than this morning where there are no gritters going. See what tomorrow brings as far as travelling goes. Canada is also much warmer than usual. In Goose Bay in Newfoundland, it's barely getting below 0C - bikini weather, relatively speaking, given that the average minimum for January is -23C. But be quiet about it, it will stop the world is cooling rant!
