Well, my local Co-op has started stocking ready-rolled pastry again, so yesterday I made a steak & onion pie. It went well. Too well, as I was intending to eat half of it hot, then have the rest for lunch today... but I scoffed the lot.

No other thread to put this on. In the flower bed opposite mine, I have planted a Basil & Mint plant, right on the seafront. They might take, dont care, they are there for everyone, Thyme going in tomorrow,  my soil just doesn't have the nutrients in pots.

Never quite sure about planting basil outdoors in England. It reacts so fast to water levels, you have to be vigilant. Thyme, rosemary, sage, marjoram, chives etc. are a bit more physically robust and require less care.

My dad's tip with the stuff you get in pots from the supermarkets is to thin out the number of plants, because there's usually too many per pot.

Now there are those who taint this shear delight with brown or heaven forbid, red sauce. Not me..

A bacon Butty is a thing of beauty and should never, under any circumstances,  be tainted with anything;  next thing you know we'll be having hybrid rugby games instead of TGG.

Polenta and roast veg tonight!

A bacon sarny will be removed from my cold dead clammy hands!!!

That is just the best meal ever. Good bacon. Good bread. No sauce.

I would have to get my timing right in telling my Geordie mates that the Stotty was a Yorkshire product. When I am up there everything goes on a Stotty . Ham and pease pudding, Sausage and pease pudding or full breakfast are the favourites.

I will take one thing away from Lock Down, & it will be flavoured rice. I have fallen in love with Uncle Ben's, & Co-OP rice. It is groovy.

I haven't tried the Co-op version, but I find Uncle Ben's rice a bit claggy. Flavoured rice, on the whole, is a good thing. Cooking rice (or couscous) in stock with herbs and spices makes it much more interesting. You're heading towards risotto territory, and that's a good way to go.
