Stu - Everyone of us today offer you and your family our sincere condolences and thanks for the huge physical & mental effort that today's game must have taken.

Many of us have been in your situation but not in the position of also playing for the Rovers.

We are all proud to have you as our captain and your Mum would have been immensely proud of the effort you gave today in her memory.

We are fortunate to have someone of such character and stature to lead the team

Stu,

You are my hero. A top professional, a top player, captain fantastic and above all a top man. When people look in the mirror, what they want to see is Stuart Dickens.

I was so shaken when I heard the news, and so moved when you opened the scoring.

Lots of love to yourself, Kirsty, your Dad and all the family

Martin and Stephanie Overton.

Stu, someone sent me this when i lost my mam, hope it does some good for you as it did for me

I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I and you are you

Whatever we were to each other

That we are still

Call me by my old familiar name

Speak to me in the easy way you always used

Put no difference into your tone

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow

Laugh as we always laughed

At the little jokes we always enjoyed together

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was

Let it be spoken without effort

Without the ghost of a shadow in it

Life means all that it ever meant

It is the same as it ever was

There is absolute unbroken continuity

Why should I be out of mind

Because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you for an interval

Somewhere very near

Just around the corner

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost

One brief moment and all will be as it was before

How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

My heart goes out to you Stu

I remember going up to Stu as he was walking out of the Barrow dressing rooms when they hammered us at theres just before we beat them in the div 1 play off, i was half cut and said to him " iv been watching Rovers most of my life and in the last few years seen some players not fit to wear that shirt. But in that time Stu you have stood out like a shinning beacon, i respect that and thank you" he looked at me and said "thank you"

I ment it Stu

My sincere condolences to Stuart and his family. I have always respected him as a player and a person. Yesterday you went even higher in my estimations.

Most players become a legend after playing, you are the very rare breed that become a legend whilst playing.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this very sad time. :(

Condolences to you and family, from Bob and Irene Crowther. You have been and still are, an exemplary figure for the Club and a credit to the game.
