Matt J
In the YEP, there was a column with Tommy Haughey, he pointed out that when a dual-reg player comes down to Hunslet, or wherever, a part-time player on pay as you play deals lose out on a weekly wage, whereas the DR player will get paid regardless, I never thought of it from a players point of view properly, and it was a real eye-opener. With the arguments for and against DR, I thought this point is a crucial one. Cummins Out.
sidnee
The point about dual registartion players is, yes they do help a team to win and show the skills of a higher league. However, as Leigh are now finding out do absolutely nothing to progress a team as when they are not playing (injured, recalled, etc) the team is like any other in this division, or probably worse. You then see a team of part time players who have good skills, but the majority not good enough to play in the top flight. What would happen if a CC coach just 'borrowed' the Wigan first team to overturn a large points deficit? I know in reality they can't but 'what if'? The sooner they scrap it the better!! The weak conform, the strong survive.
FEV-KT87
when you look at our DR set up i think we have it right 1 player who , no ofence to MIKE , isnt a key player gets gameswhen his form is good enough for us even if he isnt in the leeds setup. but wen you look at other teams they have several key players on DR and yes it bears fruit...until those players hit form then they are snapped up by their parent club...... its the clubs own fault YOU CANT CRUSH PRIDE!!!! Matt J
Arent manning and sheriffe on DR also? Sheriffe is ours, Manning is on loan, but Sky commentators seem to be convinced he was released by Leeds and signed by us. Cummins Out.

jt
Notice Ged Stokes thought this was a good idea and has now decided it isnt working so he wont be doing it anymore. I he gets a player it will be a loan deal only. Is this up for debate at the end of the season with the Championship clubs or is it here for good ? Leyther_Matt
Notice Ged Stokes thought this was a good idea and has now decided it isnt working so he wont be doing it anymore. I he gets a player it will be a loan deal only What you have to bear in mind is that 'Haven can't afford such players anyroad, hence why they cancelled McNally's dual contract if memory serves me right. I thought we'd taken a good tactic with the likes of Emmitt and Mitchell who, at the start of the season, seemed they would only be recalled in the most desperate of situations, but instead they've stepped up to Super League level and now we're missing them hugely, as would any side who suddenly finds some of their best players playing at the top level week-in, week out! I'd argue that it doesnt in the long run, Shaun Ainscough looks like he's been set back by the constant switching around this year, I cant see how that benefits Wigan. Cummins Out. That wasn't just the dual contract system though as he was on loan at Cas as well - if you include Wigan reserves then he's played for four different sides this year! Aye, but if the DR system didnt exist, he'd be on loan at Widnes, and couldnt be loaned out elsewhere, for me the DR system is too 'slack', the point of going on loan when you're young is learning about how clubs work, gaining experience at other clubs (not just match experience), you dont get this really with Dual Registration, im just not a fan of it.
