Hoping any Bradford game would be played on a Saturday otherwise this is a complete no go for me unfortunately.

The work i do would really mean that expecting me and my family to travel home on a Sunday evening after the game and then do a day's work on the Monday would be a complete no go sadly. I know we have to try a different approach to making this venture successful and so i wish the RFL every success but i'm already feeling a slight pre-emptive peev coming on thinking that there is a likelihood that i may miss our first game of the season.

I realise this is a bit of a negative rant but i genuinely hope the weekend is a success. If it is and we finally put down roots for the Magic Weekend in Cardiff, i just hope the RFL rotates the schedule of games over the weekend from year to year to account for those who can't book the Monday off but would still like to enjoy the event even if it is only on one of the days!

I think this is a really good move by the RFL. No doubt they will be slated for trying something different, but I can see the attendences increasing from anything before. I do feel however that becasue of the lack of BH, there will be more people coming for the day, rather than the weekend. It will be interesting to see how 'weekend ticket' numbers are affected.

It would be sensible to play 4 games on the Saturday and three on the Sunday, with the Sunday games finishing around 6pm to allow for people to get home in reasonable time; Say 12 noon, 2pm and 4pm.

I've booked up rooms at the Newport Weatherlodge (no deposit or cancellation fee) for

Of course fans from South Wales have had to do that many times over the last few years but the reverse way around. And then as we're criticised for having low away support, perhaps that's one of the reasons why.

If Magic Weekend finishes at 6pm which is possible and recommended, then if you're out of Cardiff by 7pm, you're back by midnight. No worries whatsoever. With South Wales Scorpions, we're normally back by 11 if taking the coach, some people after midnight... and that's once or twice a month.

Perhaps fixtures should be as follows...

Saturday

1pm - Game One

3pm - Game Two

5pm - Game Three

7pm - Game Four

Sunday

12pm - Game Five

2pm - Game Six

4pm - Game Seven

OK its going to happen so can will all make sure that we get as many Rl fans there as possible. i don 't want to hear excuses why people can't get there, and then moan about the event without being there. lets all make an effort and get there, and encouage all other RL fans to be there as well.

I wonder if the amateur leagues will have a blank weekend?

A lot of supporters play, help out at a club or have kids playing at that time of year.

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

Not a bad idea at all holding it on the first day of the season. No apathy setting in for anyone, people will want to be there because they wont want to miss out on their teams first game, and it will get attention for the season ahead.

Could backfire for certain teams though if they lose big in front of everyone.

Yep, well said. We can all have our opinions on this, but support was modest in May over BH weekends, plenty wanted this (including the clubs) and it is a great chance to get a real positive launch of the season (Magic Weekend always gets more publicity from Sky and the media anyway), so let's hope it works.

I've had my say on it, but now I'll look to book a hotel and get my tickets when they come out...

at least the rfl seemed to have listened to people about a decent launch for the season.

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG

Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT

Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG

Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

Leaving aside the certainty that the Sick Nations lot WILL scupper this Millenium Magic event... (that was for Justin!) :D

... Wales RU play England the week before, and it will be full. So the southern softies (again, for Justin) will pack out the Millenium Stadium to see the international fixture. Why can't the Rugby League fans do the same? We're 'arder than them! B)

Best thing they could've done for the Magic weekend, reckon there will be a significantly improved attendance with it being the 1st round of the season. Just hope they don't let the champions play a game a week early, as has happend recently, to make room for the WCC.

"surely they've got to try somthing different now, maybe the little chip over the top?2

I think it's a pretty terrible idea (most of the reasons why have been covered pretty well already) and, personally, the idea of the Magic Weekend just doesn't appeal.

However, if they are going to do it, I'd suggest seeding the match-ups based on final placings from 2010 (eg, 13th v 14th etc) and setting up a blockbuster Grand Final rematch.

I'd also consider playing one of the games on the Friday night just to avoid four games on the Saturday.
