Fev not champions yet ?

It is a stupid system where a club tops the league after a full season and are not champions but that is the rules of the competition and has been for several years.

In 2005 Whitehaven topped the league but it was Castleford whowere the League Champions and won a place in SL. Haven's only trophy in their 62 years history was not the League Champions Trophy but the National League 1 Leaders Trophy.

Another point is that going back in to the 40's, 50's and 60's the top team wasn't the champion as there used to be top four play-offs to decide the Champions. Town won the Championship in 1950 -51 from 3rd position and several others did similar but that's rugby league for you, nothing is ever simple.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

in those days there was just one league of about 30 teams, so not all teams played each other. a team could finish top by virtue of having easier fixtures than other teams, so a top four playoff was understandable. now all teams play each other in their division on a home and away basis so there is no need for a playoff to decide the champions. the playoffs are just a money making excercise. you may consider us luddites but as far as we are concerned, we are champions, as are wigan and hunslet in their respective divisions. what other people think doesn't bother us, but thanks for the input.

Im pretty sure there is no Copyright on the phrase "Champions 2010".

Might I suggest those whol (like me) feel that Featherstone are a Champion side continue to do so.

The rest................who cares.

Congratz on a near perfect 2010 campaign, and please look after Superman for us next season.

Amazing how opposite fans are twisting whats plainly obvious, the merchandise is about League Champions, theres no way the people running the club shop and those ordering the merchandise are arrogant enough to think its a Championship already won.

Cummins Out.

Didn't the Halifax coach proclaim to the World that they were the best team " BY A COUNTRY MILE" last season, if so should he not have been investigated by the RFL for giving false hope to the Halifax fans ? I believe the RFL should launch a full and frank investigation as to how this man vcould be so deluded in his announcement. We all know that we have to win the Grand Final to prove to everyone that we had the best team this season, having the most wins, the least losses , the most points for the least points against, is obviuosly superficial and only NOW does the contest beigin.

BRING IT ON !!!
