Wiltshire Rhino
Was given a CD for Christmas called Modern Northern Soul. I was sceptical but it's actually very good. Duffy and The Stranglers get the Soul treatment. 2014 Challenged Cup Winner
Mister Ting
Walker Brothers version of Make it easy on yourself was better than Jerry Butlers. Learn to listen without distortion and learn to look without imagination.

I can't agree. I also thought the Jimmy Radcliffe version of " My Ship Is Coming In " was the better version. The Walkers version of " The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore " was much better than the Frankie Valli original though. Moose
Just watched and heard a singer on TV cover this classic, he won £50k. Probably the worst I've ever heard it performed. It's got to be either Leonard Cohen or this version by Jeff Buckley.

Hammerless Nail
Surely, the kings of the cover version are Snuff. This is arguably the one they're best known for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOlk_3kyY9g but I prefer this one

A Neil Young classic covered by a young lady, a guy on a trumpet and Joe Satriani. I know what you mean. I don't like the trumpet here though she sings it well. The Intro is too short, the vocals shouldn't begin until 3.22.
Wiltshire Rhino
This has probably been posted before but I heard it again today. This, in my opinion, is the greatest cover version of all time! Edited September 28, 2018 by Wiltshire Rhino 2014 Challenged Cup Winner

He rattled through some Clash hits and played some amazing Mescalaros stuff. We danced and sang along non-stop for 2 and a half hours. At one point he addressed the crowd and said (paraphrasing) "Look at us all dressed in suits! We used to trash dressing rooms and now we tidy them up before we leave!" As a side note, he played a free set at HMV in Leeds on a midweek afternoon; I left my office thinking I don't care if I get sacked, it's Joe Strummer. I was absolutely awestruck, he was superb.

You're just trying to make me jealous now. I have seen many of the great bands that came out of the punk era, but sadly not The Clash or Joe Strummer, by the time I appreciated how good they were it was too late. Its amazing how many of those bands cite Joe Strummer as an influence, for instance Jake Burns has mentioned Joe Strummer every time I have seen SLF and always performs a song that he wrote about him after his death. 1 100% League 0% Union Just because I don't know doesn't mean I don't understand
