Worth seeking out some of the tracks on YouTube or wherever. Should have posted a link. 1 2 Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Father Gascoigne Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Technically not a cover, but she wasn't the first to record this. Either way, still goes hard to this day.
Futtocks Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Not exactly a good cover, but you can play a guessing game of who's going to sing the next line and be surprised almost every time. unapologetic pedant Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Continuing the Dead Kennedys theme, thought I'd big up the Las Vegas band MIA, one of the best 80s hardcore punk outfits. Befitting for this week in Rugby League. MIA released an 11-track mini-album on Alternative Tentacles. The decision to put the record out taken after a DKs show in Vegas. In the sleeve notes of MIA CD comp "Lost Boys", Jello Biafra opines thus - "New Year's Eve 1983. As soon as we flew over the skyline I saw it for the first time, a giant neon dimetrodon glowing far brighter than any city I had ever seen. I couldn't help but think of the Bad Brains in one of their hyper-dogmatic moments, freaking out on the plane, "It's Babylon mon! look down there! it's Babylon! Babylon!" Now it is 1984...pound, pound on the storage space door... sure enough, it's the Las Vegas police... here to shut down Dead Kennedys...town after town, again and again...venue closed when Dead Kennedys play... After some delicate negotiations the cops said they'd let us play if the crowd agreed to go straight home and not riot. I can't remember if we played Viva Las Vegas or not. The second-billed Butthole Surfers didn't get to play at all." Might as well crowbar in a couple of on-topic references - MIA used to do Machine Gun Etiquette in their set. My favourite Damned cover is the blistering version of Anti-Pope by DC band Bluetip on Dischord Records.

ivans82 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Just been listening to Fairports What we did on our holidays album and forgot what a stunning version they did of Dylans song I`ll keep it with mine . Sandy Denny in top form and Richard Thompsons subtle guitar playing the icing on the cake .

gingerjon Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Not a cover version as such, but I just love watch musical people being creative for fun and revealing a little bit of how the magic works Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day.
