I don't know how you can do Christmas Carol badly but I've no interest in seeing this.

They’ve taken the natural charm of the story and wrecked it. The redeemable flaws of Scrooge, the natural good of Cratchitt and the ghosts...

The retellings in things like Scrooged and even the fairly rubbish made-for-TV ones set in modern life all have a fair reflection of the threads of the original.

This? Beyond redemption. There’s nothing likeable about the script or characters. The story is beyond the watershed for a reason and completely inappropriate for youngsters.

Watched the first 3 episodes of The Witcher last night - Quite dark, but I was enjoying it. As someone that plays video games, but having never actually played any of the series of games, or read the books, it is quite interesting.

Enjoying it so far!

If you ever get around to playing the first game, episode 3 will be very familiar!

It is definately a game I will pick up eventually - The only problem with it, is that it is a huge commitment to complete a game the size of The Witcher, haha.

Enjoyed the first Goes Wrong Show. After seeing a couple of their specials before you can see the gags coming, but it is still done with some panache and I laughed out loud a number of times.

Otherwise managed to give the TV a complete swerve over Christmas and don't feel worse for it

I thought the new Gavin & Stacey was pretty good actually.

it was ok but that's all, the way the bbc had built  up to it for months it could never live up to the hype, quite a predictable base line story with a smattering of smiles but nothing more

I binge watched The Witcher over a few days. It is confusing because any one episode can switch back to a previous time but It's harder to grasp because the charcters' looks don't change in line with the passage of time. However, episodes 7 and 8 tie things up.

Overall, I thought it was pretty good but certainly no Game of Thrones. I thought the characters were just that ... I didn't find any empathy with any of them and I wasn't that bothered what happened to them in the end. The sex scenes were emotionless but the fight scenes were excellent.

appreciated it mate - just didn't think it was worth the huge hype and build up the beeb have been throwing behind it for the last 2 months, it was a regular episode of gavin and Stacey, fat boy does a robot dance, the older couple from Essex think they are a bit better, the boat trip stays a mystery, g and s bring up some old memories to re affirm their relationship, etc etc etc

Delighted to finally see Dinner for One on Sky Arts tonight. Apparently only the second time it has been shown on British TV but it has been shown in Germany every year on New Year's Eve since 1963. It was made by one of the regional channels in Germany NRF but apart from an introduction it is in English. It is a two hander between an aristocratic lady and her butler on her 90th birthday. The butler must play her dinner guests who had actually all died many years previously. As he toasts the hostess in place of each of them he gets more and more drunk. It was laugh out loud funny. A real treat

I've just seen myself playing a double bass in Jools Holland's band, think I've had enough to drink now, never noticed I could play a musical instrument when I've had a few before, could have been a totally different career opportunity if I had discovered that year's ago!

We had BBC Alba’s show on in the background and it was very worth it. The headliners were a band I’d only heard of in passing, a Scottish Islander band Peat & Diesel. Substantially different to the usual pipes and droning singing on the show.

It did have bits that brought back traumatic memories of what Scottish primary schools call PE: highland dancing...

Oh, and the tall blonde leading the Alba Choir was worth the show on its own...

Freddie Frinton played the butler and became a legend in Germany through it?

World Strongest Man is still annoying . I watched a heat for the finals where they literally filled the show with so much padding and rubbish they were cutting out guys doing the events ... and there were only four in it . Blink and you’d miss it , but great if you wanted to see what happened in 1982 , the life story of a competitor , a competition , an advert , a meaningless bit for a pretty girl , and a recap of whats  just happened . Hopefully the final may be a bit better , or not

I saw virtually no TV over Christmas, but I did see a few reviews saying that the Worzel Gummidge reboot was far better than expected. Anyone watch it?
