FA Cup QF draw.

------

Man City v Burnley

Man Utd v Fulham

Brighton v Grimsby

Sheff Utd v Blackburn

The last time a former City player took a lower tier club to the Etihad in the Cup as a manager , what happened ? 😉

Just one of those days , missed the first half which was fairly close apparently till Liverpool scored , but in the second half they didn't miss a chance

Really annoying listening to Souness and Keane , mostly Keane , no wonder he never made it as a manager , these days once the game is gone , 3-0 , you can't just go around kicking the opposition like they did 25 years ago , all you hear from him is " commitment " and " desire " , clueless

That's a strange observation, isn't commitment and desire a virtue in RL, why shouldn't it be in football?

What Keane was alluding to was United players giving up, not tracking  back, defensively shapeless, he didn't mean kicking the opposition.

Roy wouldn't last two minutes in today's game , 3 goals were scored from breakaways , without the option to commit a ' professional foul ' to prevent them , 2 of those with lucky rebounds

He even had a go at Degea, " he received a trophy last match , would he get one after today " , when in truth he didn't stand a chance in any of the goals

It was worth 3 points , just the same as a 1-0 , United need to use it positively , do that and it'll all be forgotten by Thursday

You have to respect the comedy. Always good to see a big team lose unexpectedly heavily and, in this case, always good to see an otherwise depressed fanbase (and desperate media) leap on one result as if it is definitely the sign of things definitely changing definitely.

Comments relating to event: Man City vs RB Leipzig

In no particular order.

I was there with a mate who’d travelled up from the deep South (Aldershot) and some of these comments are his. Looking for lessons to learn or ideas to steal.  Sure, the ground capacity is significantly lower that Old Trafford’s but comparing  this event with the World Cup game (and previous GFs) at OT, the Etihad experience was so much better. There are plans to increase capacity in any case.

OT may well be closed for a £1 billion refurb or a £6 billion re-build at some point so may not be available for the GF at some point, depending on current sales negotiations.

1.       The signs outside the RFL and England Rugby League offices were well lit and clearly visible from the Etihad concourse.

2.       Looked pretty much a full house.

3.       The merchandise shop is huge and was packed, with long queues at checkout.

4.       Stewarding was excellent, as was crowd behaviour.

5.       My mate commented on the high number of evidently Chinese fans. Given that of the 43,000 students at Manchester University, around 5,000 – 8,000 of are from China, is this a demographic we might appeal to? They were clearly spending heavily on merchandise.

6.       The immediate pre-kick-off light and sound intro was nothing short of fantastic.  Yes, probably a bigger budget that for the whole of the SL season, it was nevertheless impressive in rousing the fans.

7.       In my feeble and febrile imagination I wondered if there were maybe opportunities for IMG, for the game and for clubs to have some sort of presence or to look in more detail at the University aspect.
