Upcoming gigs

Recommended Posts

Almost forgot I'm seeing the Manic Street Preachers on Thursday. :D

I have form when it comes to forgetting to go to gigs. Bought the missus and I a couple of tickets to see Steel Panther and totally forgot the gig was on. I don't like the way that tickets go on sale long before the gig.

What a ###### gig that was. Punked up covers are nothing new but the range and style that they were delivered in were superb. Leavin on a jet plane & Seasons in the sun will never sound the same again. Not to mention Me & Julio down by the schoolyard.

Just ace ace and ace.

Edit. What I saw of Capdown was really good. .sort of like The Beat but mixed with punk/ska (poor description reall). The Skints were good when they got going but focussed too much on new stuff and *too* much dub style reggae...which is not necessarily a criticism but an emerging band should possibly stick to stuff people into them know.

Nice venue, fantastic show.

Without googling, who on earth is Adam Lambert?

My brother asked me if I wanted to go see Morrissey there in April or something but I passed due to the venue; I can't go to arena gigs.

Adam Lambert is an American singer who was runner up on their version of Pop Idol a few years ago. Quite successful in his own right in the US, he has been temporarily fronting Queen in the unavoidable absence of Freddie Mercury for the past year or so on a series of shows around the world. They are currently in the middle of a sold out UK arena tour. I have to say, having seen him with peform with the band last night, he is extraordinarily good at it. Not Freddie Mercury by any means, and thankfully he isn't just doing an impersonation of him either, but he has a fantastic vocal range that really suits the songs and the flamboyant stage persona that anyone would need to front this particular band.

Queen with anyone but Mercury up front won't suit some people, and those who didn't like them or their music before probably wouldn't like this incarnation of the band either, but I thoight they were absolutely superb last night.

King Creosote were great tonight and even covered Demis Roussos' "Forever" in tribute to his passing today,

I've never seen the band live before, but they were full of fun and determined to entertain. I suppose you can't please everyone when you have a back catalogue of 40 albums, including a new one just released and one in the pipeline.

What a great venue too - Unity Hall in Wakefield, right near the central railway station and probably as big as the O2 in Leeds, only cleaner and with friendly staff.

Top night out!

Where's the Black Swan if it's on?

What I've heard of them sounds pretty good.

Seen them a couple of times, once supporting Stone Roses, another time at Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party. Looking forward to seeing them headlining their own gig.

Just a disco tonight at the Black Swan. Good DJ though, by all accounts.

Yeah I heard it was off so am in negotiations to go to another gig in Huddersfield or go out more local, so might end up at the Swan anyway later or Dime Bar or Record Store.
