A fun way to pass the time while having a few beers down the pub. But a sport? No.

But there all such fine figures of gentlemen thanks to the intensive training regime.

Shameless darts plug while I'm at it!  I can do you deal on anything listed in the link below!  ;)

It was a fantastic tournament.

I love watching the darts.

Went to the World Matchplay in Blackpool when I was back in the UK a couple of years ago. It was the most fantastic weekend. Went with my Aussie boyfriend on only his second visit to the UK - I know how to show him all the hotspots! Even more worryingly, he loved Blackpool!

And we met Eric Bristow and Keith Dellar in the pub near our b&b, which was nice.

Would love to go again. The Sydney Darts Masts last year was good too but give me Blackpool over Sydney any day ;-)

If the two organisations merged, and we ended up with all the best players competing, and the enjoyable but not obnoxious atmosphere of the BDO (as opposed to the lagered-up cretins that seem to gravitate towards the PDC), it'd be great.

They had the junior final earlier today. The name Colin Roelofs - remember it. This Dutch kid absolutely massacred his English opponent.

But it does sort of irk me when I see Chris Irvine on twitter saying nothing but positive things about it and using hashtags like #lovethedarts. Wish he was so enthusiastic about RL.

Typical cheerleader behaviour. ;)

I don't really have an opinion on darts other than I quite like it occasionally.

They all think we should leap in with Barry Hearn and Matchroom.

A pub game elevated to the status of "sport"

Maybe they should show world cribbage or nine men's morris?

Everyone misses the point of BDO darts, whilst Sky has pro players who play week in and out around the globe the BDO players are men and woman who play at there local after a days work who just got good. There the asprirational ones. Not Phil Taylor who practises in his millionaire mansion. BDO is real like Rugby league is.

Or you could say the opposite - that, to gain adequate recompense for their efforts, the PDC split from the BDO, which has never forgiven them. And the best players are in the PDC. ;)

By the way, I enjoy both, because what makes a memorable match is the contest as much as the averages. A close nail-biter is entertaining at either level.

Very disappointing scenes in Melbourne last night. An invitational tournament, and during the final between Van Gerwen and Whitlock, hundreds of idiots started throwing plastic tables and chairs, match was suspended for 20 minutes, riot police called in, 40 people kicked out.

I wasn't there but have been reading the reports this morning. Not a good look for darts :-(

[Daily mail mode] Absolutely disgusting. [Daily mail mode]

Is there any footage on YouTube?

;)

There are clips on, you guessed it, the Daily Mail.
