Now that would be an achievement when the ball goes between the lock’s legs ! Remember when crowds used to shout ‘ feeding ‘ ...

I was reading one of Tom Mather's books about the Lion's tour's, 1936 I think, the other day and after losing the first test GB changed hookers and chose Tommy Armitt because he was taller than the other choice. GB won the Test and the scrums and the Aussie rake complained Armitt wrapped his legs around his to prevent him striking for the ball as the props disputed the put in! The dark art's of the scrummage, not a couple of backs taking the place of forwards as a winger puts the ball in.

Some good news

21-year-old Sharks player Fine Kula has been cleared of brain cancer after a tough 10-month fight. Kula, who was a part of the Sharks’ pre-season NRL squad, was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma — an aggressive form of cancer — earlier this year.

After spending the year in and out of hospital and undergoing chemotherapy, the Sharks proudly announced via a statement on Tuesday that Kula received the fantastic news.

Last week, Kula underwent a six-hour full body scan that was completed over two days, followed by a blood test before the Kula family was delivered the news by their cancer specialist.

Melbourne prop Max King is set to miss the next three weeks – and potentially the rest of the Storm’s season – for a hip drop tackle that has been described as “ugly” and “premeditated”.

Such was the severity of the offence, King was referred straight to the judiciary when the NRL released their charges on Monday morning following the Storm’s 30-22 loss to the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The 23-year-old appeared via video link from the Storm’s Sunshine Coast base after pleading guilty earlier on Tuesday.

The judiciary then handed down the three-week suspension after the NRL counsel had argued for a four to five week penalty.

Melbourne’s Cameron Munster is “expected to play the preliminary final” in two weeks’ time despite injuring a knee on Saturday.

Eels coach Brad Arthur believes star winger Maika Sivo’s season is done after he came from the field with a knee injury.

Ferguson will have to have scans tomorrow, he might be a chance of playing.

I’d be amazed if Munster is back in 2 weeks. He’ll be strapped up and injected to the hilt if he is

Indeed . Guys who have quick recoveries from injuries at this stage of the season often haven’t really , they just get them out there best they can as there’s no tomorrow

Panthers are not happy BIG time that their next match is a day after their opponents in the final will have played, if as they seem to be assuming they get there.

So upset are they that they have lodged a formal complaint.  They feel they deserve the right to play their match first that weekend so that as Minor Premiers they get the advantage of an extra day's rest/training for the final over Storm or Roosters/ or Raiders.

Kalyn Ponga unlikely to be available for next month's State of Origin series, AJ Brimson is set to be one of several fresh faces in Wayne Bennett's squad to face NSW.

Moeaka Fotuaika, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Lindsay Collins are also set to earn their first Maroons jerseys when Bennett returns to the Queensland fold after Kevin Walters relinquished the reins last week when he became Broncos coach.

That's great. Brimson is a delight to watch. Great player.

I see Wayne Bennett has given Justin Hodges the push from the Maroons Origin coaching set up despite their links in the past.

He's picked Neil Henry to replace him.

Listening to him on commentary I can’t say I’m surprised

Would you take Jimmy the Jet ?

Erm, good question. It would depend on whether he really really wanted to go down to Melbourne with full committment and desire. He did have his problems off field especially with the Covid-19 break in the season when he lost his drive by all accounts. Would he be happy?

I wouldn't mind Nofoaluma though.
