Sam Kasiano to Storm or Dragons?

Storm have been wanting to sign him for next season, but while he's thinking it over he seems to have been approached by Dragons.

Which will he choose? Which should he choose?

IMG_1286.JPG.206c408c7ad38272d0581f6aad9b5a2c.JPG“I can announce that Sam Kasiano has definitely signed with the Melbourne Storm for a three year deal,” Tartak ( his manager) told the Market Watch podcast

“That’s going to start from next year — 18, 19 and 20. Craig Bellamy flew us down. (Sam) and his wife and they were ecstatic with how the club was run and Melbourne itself. Sam’s looking forward to making the switch.

“We had offers from, I’ll give you an idea, the Dragons, Parra and the Warriors."

It appears that he's taken a pay cut, or at least less than he could have got elsewhere to go to Storm.

Luke Lewis has stated his intentions of playing on in 2018. "I definitely want to play on next year," Lewis said. He is hoping to have negotiations wrapped up within the next fortnight. Lewis admits a couple of clubs have offered him contracts but says he is completely focused on the Sharks at this stage.

Serious question re the Storm recently signing both Nate Miles and Rochow, does anyone else smell a rat hear given Melbourne are riding high as usual & have the best squad in the comp as usual yet they can still afford a rep player along with a solid first grader late in the season?

Hopefully it's all above board Graham but it does seem very odd Melbourne could possible have any room to move under the cap given the quality they have. To think Melbourne are spending the same amount as Newcastle is puzzling to say the least especially since Newcastle unlike Melbourne produce juniors who should give the Knights the advantage over the storm all things being equal..

 Keeping on the Storm front:

This confirmed today:

Melbourne Storm have further bolstered their forward pack by snaring Bulldog Sam Kasiano on a three-year deal.

On a good day for a club that now has seven players in the Maroon's Game III squad, Melbourne have also re-signed Nelson Asofa-Solomona until the end of 2019.

Melbourne centre Cheyse Blair is unlikely to play again this NRL season after re-injuring his ankle in his first game back from surgery.

Blair was unable to go the distance in his return as the Storm fell to Parramatta 22-6 at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

He limped off the field midway through the first half and sat on the bench with his leg in a moon boot.

"It looks like he's cracked his ankle again," said Storm coach Craig Bellamy.

"He had a pin in there five or six weeks ago so I don't think we'll see Cheyse again this year by the sound of it.

"I'm not quite sure what's gone wrong, whether it's a new injury or the pin hasn't stayed in and they won't know until he has the scan but it's bad news."

The 25-year-old was part of Melbourne's losing grand final side in 2016.

Fellow centre Curtis Scott was a late withdrawal from the side through illness, while utility Tohu Harris failed to play out the match with a persistent knee problem.

The Melbourne players will do a match review on Monday and then have a week's holiday, with the team enjoying the bye next weekend

Savelio to Broncos.

The Brisbane Broncos have confirmed the signing of young British forward Andre Savelio on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old Warrington player will join the Broncos at the end of this English Super League season.

Savelio actually played against the Broncos in the World Club Series earlier this year, scoring a try in Warrington’s upset victory.

"Andre is a strong young forward and we have seen first-hand what he can do on the field in England," Broncos CEO Paul White said.

"He is an exciting young prospect that will add depth to our forward stocks."

ACL/PCL TEAR

ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) tears are common knee injuries, especially for athletes. The ACL and PCL are two of four ligaments that stabilize the knee joint, allowing the knee to move forward and backward without moving side to side. The ACL is located in the center of the knee just in front of the PCL, keeping the shin bone (tibia) from moving too far forward, while the PCL keeps it from moving too far backward. The ligaments cross over each other, and along with the MCL and LCL, work to stabilize the knee joint. Injuries to these ligaments are more often sprains than tears, although partial or full tears can occur to either ligament.

Storm Dont Produce Juniors? The Bromwich Brothers, Munster, Croft, Harris, Vunivalu, Chambers, Mclean, Big Nelson, Rochow plus the big 3 all came through the U20/Youth System at Melbourne!

Young guys like Croft, Munster, Brandon Smith, Scott, Hughes, Vunivalu, Mclean, Big Nelson,  Kenny Bromwich,  Glasby are all on a low salary. They have lost Mclean and Harris for next season and Britt has just joined Souths. I believe Souths are paying some of Rochow salary. Addo-Carr, Blair,  Finucane etc were picked up on low salaries as wasnt wanted by others.

Those guys you've mentioned are juniors in the same way the Roosters have "Juniors". Look in my opinion Melbourne are the best club of the modern era and Cam Smith is the best player I've ever seen ok so I don't hate the Storm I just have suspicions over there salary cap position & know they don't produce youngsters for the NRL. I'd also doubt very much we're paying any of Rochow's wages to play at the Storm.

Melbourne Storm has received some good news this afternoon on captain Cameron Smith’s injury.

Smith left the field early in the second half of last night’s 20-14 win over Canberra with a left pectoral injury.

The 34-year-old had scans on his return to Melbourne on Sunday, which showed only a minor tear.

Storm Football Director Frank Ponissi said, “We were pleased to find out this afternoon Cameron has only suffered a minor tear to his pec, while it’s extremely unlikely Cameron will play this Sunday, given the player Cameron is and his resilience to play the amount of games he has over recent seasons, we will give him every chance to do so. Otherwise we expect him to be available for selection in Round 22 or definitely by Round 23.”

Soliola.jpg.42851491395c3d0816672a756ae88a38.jpg

Raiders forward Sia Soliola has been referred straight to the NRL judiciary for a high tackle on Billy Slater and is one of four players charged from Saturday's Round 20 matches.

Soliola's Canberra teammate Jordan Rapana is facing a one-match ban for a shoulder charge on Melbourne forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona and risks a two-match ban if he unsuccessfully fights the charge at the judiciary.

Meanwhile Titans forward Leivaha Pulu is facing a $1100 fine for tripping Panthers winger Josh Mansour, while Warriors centre Solomone Kata can avoid a suspension if he pleads guilty to a dangerous contact charge.
