Canterbury halfback Moses Mbye has placed contract negotiations on hold until after the finals period as yet another club joins the race for his prized signature.

Four NRL clubs - the Dragons, Storm and Titans along with the Bulldogs - are chasing Mbye, who comes off contract at the end of next season.

I thought Doggies were trying hard to keep him happy with them.

Still the whiff of big bucks in a competitive market mean he has options!

Mbye likely leaving the Dogs http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/moses-mbyes-request-for-des-hasler-clause-in-contract-rejected-by-bulldogs/story-fni3g67w-1227494443738

Cowboy Glen Hall will retire from NRL but may play for Townsville Blackhawks in Q Cup next year.

Panthers winger David Simmons will retire next week. He plays his 200th game tonight and was studying Divinity so probably has his degree by now.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-09-01/farah-axing-down-to-feud-with-taylor-marshall/6741988

Benji Marshall says the Wests Tigers' decision to axe Robbie Farah is due to his abrasive personality and not the club's precarious salary cap position.

"He's a very bad loser and a very emotional person when it comes to defeat," Marshall said on NRL 360 on Fox Sports.

"After games I think he lets it get the better of him sometimes ... They talk about salary cap being the reason why but in my opinion it's got nothing to do with it.

"It's more about the personal battle between him and JT."

Marshall - who played alongside Farah in the joint ventures' 2005 premiership team before parting ways with the club in 2013 - said Farah was "not everybody's cup of tea" and sometimes difficult to get along with because of his outspoken nature.

Marshall defended Farah however, saying he was only forthright because he loved the club and had given his all for it.

I don't know any insiders but the club has been very poorly run for a decade. I think it's true. Benji and Farah got whatever they wanted. Benji got all upset when the club let Moltzen go and insisted they get him back. The club got him back and he's hardly played first grade ever since, about 3 years.

Beau Ryan won our Players' Player award and, a month later, he was gone. Player after player was dumped to keep Farah and Benji and they had the nerve to bleat about "loyalty."

RL pundits keep whining about "all the suits" running the NRL and the clubs when it should be run by "people who know the game," code for "unemployable ex-players." Well, Wests have been run by ex-players for 15 years and now we're staring at a Wooden Spoon, the Balmain half of the club is broke and we can't afford any new signings until 2018.

Getting rid of Farah is the first step in having the Board run the club and support the coach.

The Gold Coast Titans will say farewell to nearly an entire team’s worth of talent this season as the club progresses through an unprecedented period of change.
At least 15 players will leave the club at the end of the season with tomorrow’s final home game of the year against St George Illawarra their farewell fixture.
Captain Nate Myles (Manly), five-eighth Aidan Sezer (Canberra) and former Origin star Dave Taylor (Catalans) head the list of departing players as coach Neil Henry prepares to lead the club into a new era.

Nathan Brown's tenure at St George Illawarra ended when Wayne Bennett committed to the joint venture. But now, the former Dragons hooker will be asked to do one thing the super coach could not - bring a NRL premiership to the Hunter.

In one of the more low-profile coaching announcements in recent years, Brown was confirmed as the new Newcastle coach for next year on Thursday morning when club chairman Brian McGuigan confirmed the appointment

The Daily Murdograph headline said he was , in principle, the new coach. In the first paragraph, they changed their mind and used the word "principal." What they were trying to say, I guess, is that the selection committee chose Brown and it is now up to the Board to confirm it. Listening to CEO Matt Gidley on NRL360 just now, it's a done deal, just the paperwork to be done before any formal announcement.

The code-hopping career of Sam Burgess is set to take another stunning twist with the former NRL star linked to a return to South Sydney midway through next season.

Souths have denied approaching England rugby star Burgess to return, but suddenly have money to spend after releasing Glenn Stewart one year early from his contract, while also losing Issac Luke and the retiring Ben Lowe.

Maybe?

Sam Burgess has denied speculation he is looking to make a return to the NRL next year for South Sydney, and his coaches believe he’ll stay in English rugby until the 2019 World Cup.
Burgess has been named on England’s bench for the World Cup opener against Fiji on Friday at Twickenham, but the ever-present media attention on the 26-year-old this week has been about reports of a possible switch back to rugby league.
The Rabbitohs have been amassing a war chest to make a play at bringing Burgess back to the club next year after a poor season in his absence, and speculation floating out of Redfern is that the big forward is not enjoying rugby.

But Burgess has moved to shut down the rumours.
“I can completely deny it, there is no truth in it and I haven’t had a word from Australia. I don’t know where it has come from but it’s definitely not true,” Burgess told reporters.
