Today I tried to read about Corey Oates being hospitalised due to a serious infection... but the story was behind a paywall.

I seem to remember he was similarly hospitalised a couple of years ago so had to miss a game v Storm.

Give a special rugby league thought and prayer the world over today to Rob Burrow who with his family and friends faces the biggest challenge of his life.

The game has a big heart. Rob is small in stature but is a towering giant in terms of attitude, application and bravery.

Wests Tigers have signed Eels teenager Stefano Utoikamanu on a three-year deal from 2021.

And according to a report by The Daily Telegraph, they are keen to bring the prop over for this season.

Parramatta rejected the Tigers’ release to request the 19-year old in November, believing that he will boost their chances of success in 2020.

It is understood that Utoikamanu wants to depart the Eels immediately and the Tigers will continue to negotiate in the hope of securing a release.

Canterbury Bulldogs look set to receive unwelcome news from the NRL next week that their salary cap relief for injured Kieran Foran will be just a fraction of the star pivot’s contract.

The Dogs will be told that the most they can receive for a player who is ruled out for at least 12 matches after being injured on representative duty is $350,000, a current rule which was brought in during 2018.

That is not the news the Dogs would have been hoping for, with the club paying Foran $1.2 million in the final year of his contract.

Foran dislocated his shoulder while playing for New Zealand against Great Britain in early November after the completion of the NRL season.

St George Illawarra have announced Cameron McInnes as their new skipper.

The hooker takes over from Gareth Widdop following his departure to English club Warrington Wolves.

At 25 years old, McInnes becomes the second-youngest captain in club history.

No brainer . He’s mr consistent . 17 with his attitude and workrate would do the job

Just confirmed by the Roosters that Young centre Bily Smith has injured his ACL in training that will see him miss this season.

After being linked with Cronulla's Xerri a move for his teamate Josh Morris could be on the cards.

Danny Levi is set to move from Newcastle to Manly on a bargain-basement deal.

The deal is likely to be struck by the end of this week and looks set to cost Manly very little. The Brookvale club will only have to pay $225,000 with the Knights chipping in $150,00 for the one-year deal.

Melbourne assistant Jason Ryles will make his role with England rugby union permanent, leaving the Storm at the end of the 2020 NRL season to join coach Eddie Jones.

Ryles has been a regular visitor in the England camp over the past three years at the invitation of Jones, running skills sessions with a focus on tackling techniques.

Never been his biggest fan . Apart from his play acting around the ruck , he always seemed to bustle around and appear busy without really doing anything

Tigers coach Michael Maguire has confirmed that captain Moses Mbye has been training in the team’s vacant hooker position.

Last year saw Mbye initially find himself at a familiar role at fullback, before moving to the centres. The Wests skipper is set to now take on the dummy-half role left by Robbie Farah.
