Rugby League Auctions

Recommended Posts

Way back in the day RL roadshows (often compered by David Howes or Mick Morgan) would travel round clubsfor fundraising evenings (usually a player's benefit season). There would always be an auction of memorabilia.

Nowadays RL stuff regularly turns up at sports auction houses.

Here's a recent one selling Jack Grundy memorabilia:

Graham Budd is pretty big for football items I believe.

These are cricket specialists but have always been ok for a few RL items:

And I found these too with rugby stuff:

Do you use auction houses?

Are there any others out there we should be tracking?

Hi all, got this email from Peter Lush,

Dear Friend,

The next Rugby League Collectors Fair will be at Red Vee, St Helens RLFC on Saturday 13 June, 10.30am to 1pm. I hope you can make it, please let other people know, we do not have an advertising budget, so mentions on messageboards, forums etc are very welcome. There is parking near the ground, and tea and coffee will be available at the event. We would like to thank St Helens RLFC and the St Helens RL Heritage Group for their support of this event

We currently have 9 stalls booked, so if you are interested in running a stall, or know someone who is, please ask them to contact me. There is a charge for running a stall, and for this event for customers there will be a voluntary raffle to help offset our postage costs. London League Publications Ltd will be donating a couple of books as prizes.

Finally, please find attached a flyer for our latest books, which I hope will be of interest to you.

Best wishes,

Peter Lush

They used to have lots of Rugby League stuff on there , but not as many now a days , unforetunately you have to submit your MAX bid say £1,000 , and if nobody else bids £999 ( or the 2nd highest bid is £30 ,,,,,,you still pay the £1,000 regardless of what the 2nd highest bid was .....and they dont tell you what the 2nd highest was either ............. :rtfm:  if you are desperate you pays your money and makes your choice

shocking website - how the hell are you supposed to find anything. It's in no order and the search is a joke. List your stuff so we can find it!

Think i made an offer to these guys 3 years ago, still waiting for the response.

bargain:  London Highfield v Australia £150...

£80 on a good day.

I'm sure they have some decent stuff but if you cant navigate the site to find it, what's the point? it's also by Roughyedz appraisal a poor bidding process so if you spot a bargain, put in a bid you still get reemed!!

surprised these are still in business.

It has always been like that you have to search through all the soccer programmes. I did not know the way they work the bidding as I have bid for a few items in the past.

Is it really that difficult to put items in sport order or alphabetical order?? EVERYONE else seems to manage it!

Lost the will to live after 5 pages. Search throws up a choice of 500 to sift through...zzzzzzz

over priced and the items are spread over dozens of pages so won;t be bidding on anything.

as for this: Streatham & Mitcham V Warrington 35/36 programme starting at £165!

£100 - £120 max on a good day.

As i believe it , the vast majority of programmes that are listed are for their own customers that want to sell, but dont want or like E-Bay or other auction sites rules etc etc. . .  Its up to the seller to quote the price he wants and NOT the web site  people themselves, I myself have over last 30 years or so ( they did over many years used to publish a list that was exactly the same in book form ) have obtained quite a few difficult to find programmes off there, maybe 1 or 2 a year and to find that programme that I have been searching for, for many years am prepared to spend 15 to 30 mins looking down their list, although as you say DJ69 its now so simple to do a sort before publishing, . . . Lastly as I have already mentioned the bidding process, u makes ur mind up and places your max bid, if its out of ur league its just hard luck, there is a minimum so if your max is higher . . . THEN GO FOR IT . . . YOU NEVER KNOW , "He who dares wins Rodney "
