new Pennine League record

Recommended Posts

Queens ARLFC of Leeds have been fined £1000 and had a further £1000 suspended for bringing the game into disrepute after a series of incidents during a Premier division match against Upton at Bus Vale on 24th April.

A total of 10 players received bans after the Disciplinary committee reviewed DVD evidence from the game as well as the match referee's report.

One player received a 42 match ban due to violent conduct alongside another that received 36 matches for a catalogue of incidents during the game.

Four players received 16 match bans and 3 others got a total of 14 matches for incidents at 3 different times during the game.

A ban of 6 matches was applied to a player that was only involved in one incident.

Physio Jimmy Hughes was given a 1 year touchline ban after being found guilty of aggressive dialogue & provocation with opponents and spectators.

Secretary Phil Sharpe (who is also BARLA secretary) was warned as to future comments / remarks on social media after he invited supporters to come and watch the "brawl of the season".

In a staggering display of delinquency, the Pennine League warned Queens that a further similar incident will result in their expulsion from the Pennine League.

Queens have used the Racist card for years in their favour to get out of trouble, it's a shame really because when they played football they could be very exciting.

queens have never used the race card as it is the clubs policy but its about time racist abuse was stamped out  the abuse  aimed at the queens players which included three current bara internationals                       (british asian rugby association )was disgusting its about time barla and the rfl  stopped burying there heads in the sand when incidents like this occur

The "press release" is all very vague referring to a number of incidents but what actually happened? Was anyone actually sent off during the game?

The collective bans are massive so there must be good evidence etc

The thing is Marauder we've got black players , and i've seen the abuse they got when we went to Upton , years ago it happened with Redhill being taken out of the league and sometimes i thought Upton were getting close to that , you should be able to go to away grounds and have a bit of banter with the fans , not for them to enter the field of play and strike players....

From Upton's match report:

"Upton came out on top in a sometimes brutal encounter which saw a number of ill tempered brawls leading to Queens having a player sent of with two players from each side sin binned as the referee struggled at times to keep the match from boiling over but after producing the cards he eventually gained control"

So will the Upton club be facing any sanctions?
