A British Army First. An Irish Sport

 

The British Army Regiment, the Irish Guards, have been accepted to play in the London GAA and they will be fielding a football team initially. Armed forces members were banned from  the GAA in the past and this will be the first British forces club affiliated They will be participating under the club name of Garda Eireannach.

The Irish press articles I've read about this seem to be followed by comments that are overwhelmingly supportive.  It *seems* that the ones with greatest concerns/issues were the Irish in London.
