Under 12s: Blackbrook Royals v Leigh Miners Rangers

Blackbrook lifted the Under 12’s Lancashire Cup after a hard-fought 19-12 win over Leigh Miners Rangers.

The game began in a lively fashion with both teams looking to attack by spreading the play across the field.

Blackbrook looked stronger in the middle and despite the best efforts of the Miners’ defence Paddy Mayer dived over from close to the line.

The St Helens side continued to press for the remainder of the half, going into the break with an 18-0 lead.

Leigh put up more resistance in the second half and were unlucky not to score themselves when Jerry Akpo was stopped just short of the line.

The powerful forward soon added his name to the scoresheet, busting a few tackles to score a try which was converted by Kieran Tyrer.

Miners went over for a second but Blackbrook half-back Jack Stevens added a drop-goal to secure the victory.

Under 13s: Halton Farnworth Hornets v Shevington Sharks

Halton Hornets recorded a 36-20 win to lift the Under 13s Lancashire Cup, despite a fearless performance by opponents Shevington.

The Widnes-based side took the lead inside three minutes after a good move across the pitch which allowed Joe Barnes to score in the corner.

Halton went onto score two successive tries through Lewis Talbot to take what proved to be an unassailable lead.

Shevington soon hit back through Taylor Sadler-Flude, Alfie Cassidy converting to make it 16-6.

But the Hornets proved too strong, breaking from the scrum to score through William Smith.

A majestic break from the kick-off inflicted more damage, Jack Taylor scoring under the posts for a try which was converted by Talbot for 26-6.

The Sharks continued to make headway through their forward but a quick break saw Brad O’Neil score the first try of the second-half.

Shevington continued to give it their all, scoring in the corner having twice been held up over the line.

A penalty from the restart allowed Halton to edge further ahead, though Shevington didn’t let their heads drop, scoring again through Sadler-Flude.

The Sharks ended on a positive note as Umuyla Hanley scored a fantastic individual try, racing in from range to make the full-time score 36-20.

Under 15s: Newton Storm v Waterhead

Newton Storm held on to edge out Waterhead 30-22 to win the U15s Lancashire Cup Final.

Storm had the better of the early chances but Waterhead defended well, forcing the ball carrier into touch before scoring through Kegan Brennan on the counter.

The next phase of play led to a well-worked try by Sean Halpin, which Mike Wynn converted to bring Newton level.

Forceful play by Storm led to another try, Eddie McLorie converting to give his side a 12-6 lead.

Tyler Jones then went on to give his side a healthy after a good passage of play and though Wynn missed the conversion attempt, he was able to add a penalty before the break.

After the break both teams managed to defend well, and the stalemate end to end period was broken when Tom Nesbit barged through the tackle to touchdown for 24-6.

Storm appeared to have the game in the bag but Waterhead dug deep, striking back through Jack Bradbury and Regan Garforth.

Watehead got themselves back within two points at 24-22 after a converted try from Josh Whitehill, with momentum certainly on their side.

However Storm managed to close the game out after a break in the centres from Liam Lealy, goaled again by Wynn.

The Warriors continued to apply the pressure in the final minutes but Storm’s defence held strong for a 30-22 win.

Under 18s: Rochdale Mayfield v Wigan St. Judes

Rochdale Mayfield lifted the Under 18s Lancashire Cup Final with a 27-12 win over Wigan St Judes.

The game began with St Judes asserting pressure with Rochdale having to defend well to keep their opponents out on two occasions.

The opening try came slightly against the run of play when Jack Rush went over for a Mayfield try which was converted by Zac Hartley.

An end to end contest followed before Rush repeated the feat on the half hour mark. Hartley converted and made the half-time score a healthy 14-0.

St Judes continued to test their opponents and got their just rewards when Dante Samuels crossed in the corner.

Soon after Gavin Rodden outpaced his opponents to score from 40 metres, though both conversions were missed, resulting in a six point deficit.

Rochdale moved up the gears, Dec Sheradin speeding through for a try for an 18-8 lead.

This was followed by a wide passing move along to Joe Schofield who side stepped the defence to touch down, and although the conversion was missed, a penalty goal was added soon after.

Rochdale had more defending to do but relished the challenge and went straight back on the attack to add a Hartley drop-goal.

St Judes were finally able to breach their opponent’s line after a well-worked try from Joey Bradey made the full-time score 27-12.

Can you advise on why 2 new clubs aren't allowed in the u14s league for next year as per the thread on the general forum?

Why are you derailing a thread ?

This thread is about the lancs cup finals and the positive outcome of a combined effort from the leagues and the local RFL paid officers yes we can and do work together and the positive outcome was this week end eight clubs played their part in a cracking days rugby .

Please air your ill informed gripes on the appropriate thread you know it's there so stick to it .

If you want to speak to me about issues around our Area of administration 7-12s then my details or on our website .

Sunday was a great day for NW RL so please stick to the topic .
