Those nice tories

Recommended Posts

Do you mean Anthony Eden. who conspired with Israel and France to attack Egypt's schoolchildren, whilst high on amphetamines? And then was given a peerage. Or Winston Churchill who turned the arm loose on miners at Tonypandy? Or perhaps the Lib/Tory coalition who were responsible for the Amritsar massacre? Of the Heath government who were in charge when Bloody Sunday happened. I should learn a little history before posting chum.

Whataboutism

To be fair, Trojan's Whataboutism was in response to a whataboutism, which just proves the point, once you start whatabouting you can go on and on ad infinitum.  :stop:

Won't someone think of the whatabout children?

Alot of it about including those that rail others for doing it then do it themselves.

I've got Daily Politics on in the background and the Tories are getting a kicking over their jury-rigging of the funding system by Andrew Neil, that well known socialist lefty.  The paraphrased summary started: "you're cutting short money, stopping unions funding Labour and generally screwing over everyone but yourselves, why aren't you addressing the other side of the issue by restricting all those big hedge funds and oligarchs from funding the Conservatives?"  Bluff and bluster from Nick Gibb, the Tories' Minister of State for Schools, that there's nothing stopping those companies funding Labour as well so there's no problem to fix.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Nicky Morgan looking to the USA for the new head of OFSTED.  Why not look to Finland?  Or countries at the top of the education tables?

I think the Google sweetheart deal has upset Rupert, after all why didn't he get one?  Or is this another indication of the decline in importance of printed media?

Selected appointed prison governors and selected chosen schools can have complete autonomy over how they spend taxpayers' money.

The rabble cannot.

I hope your charity has given up on lobbying.

We don't receive any government money so we're safe on that for now.

Sheltered housing developments 'shelved due to benefit cuts'

The National Housing Federation (NHF) has calculated that nearly 2,500 units have so far been scrapped or delayed as sheltered housing providers face losing an average of £68 a week per tenant.

David Orr, chief executive of the NHF, told the BBC: "There is real impact now.

"New homes for people with support needs - vulnerable people - that would be being built have been cancelled."

This way: The 65-year-old crossbench peer....

Surely you don't expect balance accuracy and precision from the TRL Praesidium?

It's just a desperate descent into "whataboutism" and a fruitless attempt to even out the disparity in the number of  posts between this topic and the "Jezza and Labour" love-in topic

In what way is he a Tory?

I'm happy to put money on it, he may be a "cross bencher" but his attitudes are quite obviously Tory, and yes those Tory attitudes are shared by many labour peers and MPs

Would you care to say anything about the actual link John? And as you and many others on here know, I'm not a labour supporter

If we are going to include all of the Labour and Liberal Democrat Tories in this thread, it really opens up the scope.

Another day, another appalling DWP story. They are not fit for purpose: Boy with no arms and legs told he must prove he is disabled or his benefits will be stopped

Stop trying to catch up with the Corbyn thread.

Pangloss has already told us that is now for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

And prove it he did, thus getting his disability payment. Perhaps each individual case should have their very own handcrafted letter as opposed to the mass generated missive that is dished out to everyone. Or I should simply be able to say "my daughter is disabled, I need financial help, and no you can't have any proof".

I'd best not point out which party introduced these assessments or point out the spineless hypocrisy of people who voted for them and now hope we hadn't noticed.
