PREVIEW: Dons v Crusaders

Dons News

Doncaster entertain North Wales Crusaders for the second time already this season, having defeated the Welsh side 35-28 in the iPRO Sports Cup in February.

On that occasion, the seven tries for the hosts through Welham, Adbull, Hedges (2), Foggin-Johnston (2) and Cross proved too much for the visitors who scored via Turner (3), Massam and Duffy.

Gary Thornton’s men come in to the game off the back of a 24-12 humbling at the hands of London Skolars in the same competition, at the quarter final stage.

Both Mason Tonks – who scored in the defeat to the Skolars – and Hedges look to be doubtful for the clash after picking up injures.

Without the spine of their side due to a lengthy casualty list, the Dons have recruited to bring in Dewsbury pair Brad and James Delaney on loan in a bid to bolster the ranks and get back to winning ways.

They will take on a Crusaders side who have only won once this season - in their last away outing against Newcastle – amid numerous departures from the Racecourse Ground since our earlier meeting.

The last time the sides met in League competition was in August 2012 when Doncaster closed in on the title thanks to a 48-12 win at Keepmoat Stadium in which Cowling (2), Waterman (2), Spurr, Hughes, Fawcett, Edwards and Powley all crossed in front of 891 fans.
