Have Barla thrown the towel in ?

Recommended Posts

I think BARLA need to be killed off and a brand new association set up that accepts the vast majority of the amateur game that's now played in summer as well as the game outside the heartlands and accepts juniors as equals. Stuart Prior would be the best chairman though I agree

That is possibly correct. BARLA seems to be an outdated, M62 centric organisation, that does little or nothing to beat the decline in junior rugby. Australia has 18 players to our 1 at age 15. Our whole game suffers therefore. There are real reasons why this happening but throwing in the towel is not the way to beat the trend.

As winter rugby dies, (and it is)  summer rugby thrives, and offers better opportunities for young players. The whole game, across the whole country MUST focus on junior rugby. The Excellent Embed The Pathway programme run by Tony Fretwell is the way forward.  If BARLA will not or cannot fight the flight away from junior rugby, a new organisation MUST.

Hold on, the RFL have been in charge of the games development for just about the last 20 years,

Summer rugby thrives, why don't NCL teams now field 2 open-age and under 18's since the jump to summer, why did I watch the team that came 2nd inf the YML premier division last season only fill a team sheet on about 3 occasions during the season and this is a team who was putting two open-aged teams on the park the previous winter season. (The same team seems to have an abundance of players during their winter campaign even though summer has become their priority season

Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.
