I sit in the corner of our office on the 27th floor, if the blinds are down i have a proper lovely view; Singapore cricket club, the Fullerton, Raffles in the background to my left, the water with little boats fannying about and then MBS to my right. The clowns in front of me pull ALL of the blinds fully down so all i can see is a half deflated balloon in front of some blinds. And.... the stupid clock in front of me.. New York time is fast by 8 minutes; Mumbai 12; London slow by 7 and Tokyo just flashes. Fix it!!!!! It is usually caused by the lack of staff (call centres and supermarkets are the main culprits), lack of staff training or other people monopolising the time of staff. Another cause is management not being prepared to do the lower level roles, again supermarkets are the worst for this. 3 manned tills with 20 people waiting in each que and 2 manager stood there moaning about how slow the till staff are, rather than jump on one of the 10 free tills and serving customers. I read in a secured report, that I unfortunately cannot share, that the average (mean) salary for a female project management professional is 30% less than for a male equivalent following a survey of over 2,000 qualified professionals. (For interest, the median average is 33% less for a woman than man suggesting that the highest paid jobs are weighted heavily towards men as well) This isn't a type of job that "suits" a particular gender, it really is a gender-irrelevant job so why the pay disparity? For those who call themselves a "portfolio manager" the pay difference is 50% less for a woman compared to a man. Are we really still in the type of country where what's in your underwear defines your salary for roles like this to this extent? I thought by now it'd be the minority rather than getting to that level of statistic. Where I live, the entrance to our quiet street is a bit small, two cars CAN get past each other but not by much, if you have one driver turning early onto the bigger road (although still very quiet road) then it's a potential accident, especially given the massive hedges of the house at the junction. To help reduce that, I drift to the right on the bigger road to see around the corner and to give me plenty of time to do something if there's a problem there. Advanced driving does teach that, especially for windy slow country roads where there may not be sufficient space for two cars to pass safely at speed. Just got comfy when the phone rings, landline, only my gran and my wife's dad uses that so I thought it would be important after 8pm. Ran to phone to hear "hello sirs, you in car accident, we help you money" with me dripping water on the bed. As discussed earlier in this thread I usually am fairly polite or just hang up, this one got an "oh (fornicate) off" before I hung up.
