VW will be along shortly to say he's always thought this and it's about time Betts listened to him.

I don't know how old Langer is now but yep Mellor could be nearly as good as Langer is these days.

That reminds me of the last time don Bradman came over to watch the ashes. The radio commentators asked the man who averaged 99 in test cricket how he thought he'd get on against the then England bowling. I'd like to think I'd average 60 or 70 the commentators said 60or 70 is that all. To which Bradman said well I am 87.

Its always tough to compare players of a different era. Langer played 34 Origins, 24 tests and the superleague test for Australia. This is a time when guys like Sterling and Mortimer were winding up their carriers, Ricky Stuart and Geoff Toovey were in their prime and young guys like Joey Johns and Brett Kimmorley were making their mark. Tommy Raudonikis who coached both Langer and Johns says at no point did Andrew Johns ever outplay Langer when they played against each other.

If he IS the next Allan Langer then England will be looking exceptionally difficult to beat over the next few years.

He was the half back who had the most influence on the game with two well taken tries through gaps that didn't seem to be there

I think Betts was over excited - this is a side that lost 8 games on the bounce and confidence was extremely low and came back from 16-0 down in the game

Langer never needed a Kevin Brown along side for his team to have a win.

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.
