Brexit the positive thread

Yes, I can't imagine how investing in comprehensive WiFi coverage would do anything to support businesses or communities.

To the expense of something more fundamental, like jobs?  I think your priorities are askew.  Businesses should fund their own wifi and indeed so should individuals.  Ensuring good coverage and speed would certainly be a reasonable use of public money given that so much business is now undertaken online in the West but providing free wifi to everyone in the EU is a ridiculous waste of public money.

You think it's the business of the state to provide jobs but not infrastructure.

Interesting.

You could the shock on his face after the result was announced and him doing a disappearing act with Gove in Parliament. I absolutely believe his position was nothing more than political posturing to suit his own personal agenda.

Now he's dealing with the consequences as the Foreign Minister; bravo the PM.

Is it a good thing to have someone that shallow as Foreign Secretary?

I would imagine not

Theresa May puts Boris back in his box: Theresa May to decide over Brexit talks, No 10 says after Boris begins setting out strategy

So that's all of the three brexiteers who have had public pro brexit statements quickly quashed by their boss.

I don't understand the need to slap him down, in terms of timing it was similar to what Tusk was banding about last week, unless of course that was last week and she was rather hoping we'd forgotten!

From the Telegraph  ;)

"OK, I admit it. I regret voting Remain. Vindication for decent, ordinary folk over the snobs who didn’t believe Britain could be prosperous alone, who relied on the pointy-headed fearmongering boffins to dress their slimy Europhilia into tricksy, overblown predictions that have been proven false."

Isn't it funny how things are 'spun'.  On Wednesday the BBC reported that the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) had "slashed its forecast for UK  growth for 2017, laying the blame squarely on Brexit."

However, when looking at the report, a bit that wasn't mentioned by the Beeb, was that the OECD also said that their forecast for 'the rest of the world' will also be down for 2017, but this they blamed on 'volatility in world financial markets'.

So there you have it, the downgrading of the UK forecast is down to Brexit, the downgrading of the rest of the worlds forecast is down to volatile financial markets.

And because this is 'the positive thread',  here's a small segment from Cityam on the above report -

" Despite today's downgrade from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), investment banks and think tanks that produce regular updates on the UK economy have upgraded their outlook.

According to a collection of 21 new independent forecasts, published by the Treasury, economy watchers are predicting the UK will grow by 1.8 per cent this year, up from expectations of 1.5 per cent in August. That puts the outlook for this year bang in line with the predictions made before the referendum".

Wouldn't it be nice, now the voting is over, to get an unbiased, balanced report, either pro or con Brexit from our media to show what is really happening.

Most predictions from Remainers on here was that there would be reduced growth rather than apocalyptic scenarios.  This still looks reasonable to me.

Leave seemed to think we would have increased growth.

We can still wait and see and then not agree either.

On here?  There were a few on each side who predicted plenty either way.  I would not say you thought an extra 350 million would go into the NHS each week.

I think it was the wrong choice, I still do.

Over the last few weeks I have been to Poznan in Poland for a long weekend , got a parkrun in on the Saturday . Will be heading back asap . Could see the EU MONEY in the city centre, transport hub etc big investment , great to see but didnt have to travel far to see lack of investment , poor housing etc . Maybe funds need to find its way towards the masses living in the suburbs ?

Big group travelled over for the parkrun and put some money into the local bars/stores/hotels etc . Hopefully it will stay straight forward travelling into Poland . Its in the polish people interests that it remains simple to travel .

My lads and mates are in Germany for the octoberfest (in september !) again putting big amounts of euros into the Germans pockets . I would imagine everyone will want this kind of visit to continue . People in the real world running real grass roots busnisess will find away for this to continue.
