I'm totally with you and been saying so for years, in fact since 2005 after attending RLC meetings and seeing first hand how the RFL talked about BARLA

Funny how quiet the self preservation squad have gone

This is what happens when a group or individual takes total control and cease to use a democratic system to move forward, eventually they alienate themselves and are left with the weak who would easily be tempted to go to the greener grass cometh the day.

They don't want to get rid of it they want it to work for its members. A membership scheme does not help most clubs, i can raise £65 back packing at the local Asda on a Sunday afternoon 1 hour before closing. Admitted you should never look a gift horse in the mouth but its not that a significant eye opener.

Barla can operate better for it members but the management are aged and rudderless. Youth and vision is required and as long as you have the people you have in place now it will go nowhere.

So again we come back to the point, after your £65 saving for entry to cup competitions what does BARLA do for you. But i think a better question is what do you want it to do for you?

Answers on a postcard please Rugbysmith13

Apart from the £65 savings the players can play in the County & International games, i can see why the NCL was against their players playing for Barla Internationals when they are not a member of Barla and under the RFL and the same with the Youth & Juniors, no matter what anybody says all the youth and open age have signed the Operational rules so are now under the RFL, each playing league can have their own rules but all child welfare, referee abuse (asault) Appeals are RFL.

Barla could tell all clubs years ago that this weekend nobody was playing and nobody did, thats when all amateurs were under the same roof.

Barla can have a say about Youth & Juniors at meetings but do not have a vote as was stated in the Barla minutes.

Back to the main topic, if a club is a member of Barla any of there U17`s, 19`s or open age is eligable for County and International which the NCL was trying to stop.

Doesn't the BARLA constitution say you have to play for your district before playing county and county before international or has that all been changed ?

I will let people draw their own conclusions from this press release ?

BARLA PRESS RELEASE

BARLA YORKSHIRE COUNTY ARE ALIVE & KICKING

BARLA Yorkshire County despite rumours to the contrary are alive and kicking and to quote Samuel Langhorne Clemens aka Mark Twain,

‘The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.’

BARLA have acted quickly following unexpected resignations by members of the previous regime and appointed individuals in house, running the county on a temporary basis pending it’s AGM on the 24th September at Shaw Cross Sharks ARLFC.

Until then the day to day running of the County will be as follows:

Chair: Carl Morton

Vice Chair: Spen Allison

Secretary: Susan Williams

Media Manager: Steve Manning

BARLA Vice Chair Steve Manning,

“BARLA would like everyone involved in the amateur game in this country to know that BARLA Yorkshire County are alive and kicking, given the sudden unexpected resignations by a number of individuals.

“We have put in place on a temporary basis until the counties AGM, individuals who wish to take the county forward on a day to day until that meeting. The first thing that this committee has done is make sure the county have an Under 17’s side and set up for the forthcoming tri series in October.

“At BARLA’s AGM on Sunday the BARLA Sue Taylor chair stated that one of her aims over the next twelve months is to review the rules and constitution regarding the BARLA Three Counties, so that they are all singing from the same hymn sheet, and all operating open and transparent.”

This was changed many years ago and it states you have to play for your County before any international selection. the district leagues intertown packed in due to nobody wanting to play for there district leagues. its hard enough getting people to turn up for a club match now.

What a joke!

Over the last five or six years the Yorkshire County ARL has gone from zero to hero with the efforts of hard working secretary Ian Greenwood and Chair Graham Brearley who brought in sponsors and gave the county new dynamics. Sadly, these "Unexpected resignations," were brought about solely by BARLA's covet, orientated, meddlings.

It will now be very difficult to locate a pulse in the set up, under the temporary stewarding? of, the individuals put in place by BARLA to take the County forward,

Well at least they will be saddled blessed with a top media manager

You never fail until you stop trying

Are the NCL play offs now scheduled during the same period that the county games have always been played

Why wasn't the remaining members allowed to elect their own officers ? or have they got rid

I would think it's easier to to move the dates of 3 county matches than to rearrange a full season.

Why do they have to rearrange, what they (NCL) should have done was ARRANGE around the county games in the first place, if you look back there is a lot of arrogance from the NCL management expecting the rest of BARLA to be arranged around the NCL simply because they where the flagship of the amateur game.

NCL season is in line with the majority of RL played in this country. BARLA should react to its membership accordingly not needlessly alienate them

Because It's is surely easier to move 3 games rather than a whole season thus ensuring ALL amateur players get the chance to represent their county/country and also ensuring the county championship dosen't go the way of the "National" cup which is now just a Yorkshire pub team trophy.

Hmmmmmm I seem to remember this year's final being between 2 NCL clubs....hardly yorkshire pub teams.[/quoted

It's still a shadow of its former self with the few good NCL teams who enter playing mostly their 2nd team.

If BARLA want the county championship to retain its prestige they need to make changes to when the games are played

Youve Yorkshire had to appoint a new commitee, Cumbria dont have an open age coach, and all three teams may be shorn of some of the best players again

These games should be of high quality

Forget Chuck and Chad I am the real legend killer
