An Apology

Recommended Posts

Late on Friday night, I made a number of posts on a thread here which were ill-judged and poorly thought-through.

I then spent the weekend trying to decide how best to put things right. This is the result of that.

Firstly, I owe Johnoco an apology. I went steaming into a thread that I should have stayed out of. I was out of order and I apologise.

Johnoco, I am sorry.

Secondly, I need to take a break from the forum. I am an angry old man at the moment and I can’t guarantee that I can keep that anger under control, so I am going to contact JD and seek a way forward.

Very honest to say that , nobody thinks they are wrong on the internet.

Don't stay away long.

And very few people, on the internet or otherwise, are big enough to apologise for anything these days. So don't feel bad.

Its a talking shop. We don't change the world. Ive forgotten how many people ive had barnies with over the years and how much tripe ive posted.

But barring very rare exceptions, id be more than happy to share an hour over a pint with folk on here

You are doing the right thing. I was in a dark place a few years back and found myself not exactly covering myself in glory on forums.

I took a break, got my head sorted and now I like to think I make a more positive input to the forums I frequent (although to be honest I rarely post on here).

I had a pretty dark time earlier this year and taking breathers from social media and forums was a key part of recovering.

I know I still go over the top sometimes but I try not to be personal (or take things personally). Sometimes I even succeed!

I too hope you will be back soon. If we all agreed there would be no point in the forum in the first place.

Just because your wrong and support a rubbish team doesn't make you a bad person!

Seriously, I look forward to your contributions in hopefully the not too distant future.

Can only add to what other folk have said Tony.

I haven't the faintest idea what you were involved in on Friday night but, at the end of the day, at least you weren't supporting Wigan.

The fact that you've seen fit to come on here with an apology shows what a decent bloke you are because it's obviously preyed on your mind whereas other people might have not even bothered about what they'd put.

Whether or not you choose to have a break is up to you but this forum will be a poorer place without you, that is for certain.

Best wishes mate.

Tony, you're known as one of the good guys on here, so don't be gone too long eh?

And when they found our shadows

Grouped around the TV sets

They ran down every lead

They repeated every test

They checked out all the data on their lists

And then the alien anthropologists

Admitted they were still perplexed

But on eliminating every other reason

For our sad demise

They logged the only explanation left

This species has amused itself to death

No tears to cry no feelings left

This species has amused itself to death

I've always considered TRL as a modern day version of the Monty Python Argument Clinic....which may explain my previous bans.....

Sometimes it's good to vent and I think most folk on here are pretty thick skinned (even when they pretend not to be). I've been called most things over the years and I still can't think of anyone on here I wouldn't buy a beer for if the opportunity arose.

I got into trouble on here myself a short while ago, things were going wrong in my private/career life, and I came on here when angry & worried, and took a ban. I sat it out for a while until my head was right, and apologised. I'm now on a final warning which helps me think before I post.

I generally follow a rule.... no internet output when i would fail a breath test if stopped by the police.

Its not a hard and fast rule, but if adhered to it can save no amount of embarrassment and social discord
