Last few years its:

Winner of North East

Winner of East

Winner of South East

Winner of London

Winner of South West

Winner of West

Highest placed West Midlands team (Coventry Dragons)

Highest Placed East Midlands team (Northampton Demons)

Which have made up the 8 teams.

The fixtures are:

Cornish Rebels (SW) v Swindon (West)

Henmel Stags (East) v West London (Lon)

Jarrow Vikings (NE) v Northampton (N Mids)

Coventry Dragons (S Mids) v TBC (Most likely another East team)

The first fixture should be Cornish Rebels vs US Portsmouth as US Portsmouth won the West of England league should it not?

Will these fixtures also be at neutral venues again?

Are Coventry Dragons anything to do with Coventry Bears?

No. A lot of their initial squad had previously played for the Bears mainly in the reserves but there's no link at all between the club's, its more a rivalry

Roughly speaking there was a split where the better players needed a higher standard than the Midlands could provide (about half a dozen players had spent a season playing for Hemel to get higher standard games) but some players wanted to stay in the local league. Also the reserves team at the time were struggling to raise a side and formed the bulk of the breakaway club. Coventry Bears largely recruited ambitious young players for the first team and eventually the reserves, mainly from Loughborough and Coventry Universities. Coventry Dragons have successfully recruited many of the RU based players that would have traditionally played for Coventry Bears in the Midlands premier.

Is there any plans for any more clubs in Coventry and also in and around Birmingham?

There was a second Birmingham club this year called South Birmingham Hawks but they didn't complete the season and appear to have weakened an already struggling Birmingham Bulldogs.

At one point there was a third club in Coventry called Coventry Warriors, but they didn't last long.
