ultimate roughyed
Being an eternal realist/pessimist (take your pick!), if we narrowly lost to Whitehaven at home next week the final set of fixtures would be extremely interesting (also assuming Halifax beat Swinton next week). Whitehaven v Swinton Dewsbury v Oldham Basically, Swinton would still be in danger of going down on inferior goal difference to Whitehaven if we managed to pull off a win at Dewsbury (not impossible). Given Dewsburys complete roll over against Haven today, Swinton would be fearful of a repeat performance when we play them. Therefore, Swinton will have to put in a performance. We also have the advantage of kicking off an hour later as the Whitehaven game kicks off at 2pm! So come half time at Dewsbury we will know what we need to do in the 2nd half to stay up (hopefully we will still be in the game come half time this time round!). Let's hope all the above is academic and we win next week (fingers crossed).
roughyed34
Nooo UR , it will be all over next week, I can't take a last game scenario......but I concede it might just come down to it if we ain't on it next week. Lets finish the job at home and we all( well except on here) go home happy lol
ultimate roughyed
Gaz, we don't do things the easy way though do we? Our confidence is low and Haven must be bouncing after that win at Dewsbury today. I'm extremely fearful for our chances next week and with Lippy banned and injuries to Langers today, it's not looking good. As ever I'll be behind the team 100% and at least it's still in our hands but how many set points are we going to fail to convert............good job we were 40 love up! ultimate roughyed
It could also be the case that if Swinton beat Haven they finish 4th and end up in the Shield semi finals, but lose and get relegated!
Colin James
Is that true that Whitehaven kick-off earlier on the last day of the season? That's surely not fair. It's usual to all play at the same time.
moorside roughyed
I don't think I could take that last day caper. We spent too long getting into the championship to see it disappear just like that.Devastated would be a massive understatement. Praying to God the boys can put in a shift to end all shifts next week.

ivans82
with the fixtures to go , haven have nothing to lose and can give it a real go .if oldham lose they still have a safety net at dewsbury as they seem to have declared for the season . swinton however have halifax at home and haven away , they should be very, very, very worried , but it seems the penny has yet to drop on their website . steve wild
Really? The Swinton website carries an article "squeaky bum time" which spells out exactly the various scenarios. No complacency whatsoever.
Colin James
Swinton are in the best position by a million miles. The only side which can stay up without winning another game. In fact there is only one way we can go down and that is if we lose both our remaining games and Oldham lose at home to Haven then win at Dewsbury. I wouldn't swap. thecrab
Not so sure about that. Can honestly see fax and haven winning both their next games. I wouldn't fancy you turning over haven at their place. Equally with dewsbury playin for nothin, we could quite easily turn em over You really need to beat fax or I'd say your favourites for the drop Hope not cos I'd like you to stay up
Dave Naylor
Swinton are in the best position by a million miles. The only side which can stay up without winning another game. Not true. If Haven lose any of their remaining games, they're down. So we could lose to both Haven and Dewsbury and survive. Of course that would need Swinton to beat Haven on the last day. TOSH1960
I don't think any Oldham fans will be wanting to go to Dewsbury for survival. So let's get the job done this week and go to Dewsbury to party! We need as many as possible to get to Bower Fold and get behind the lads that have grafted so hard to put us in the position we wanted to be in at the start of the season. Survival in our first season in the Championship was all we wanted and now we have the realistic chance of achieving it. Come on you Yeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haven4ever
Haven have one chance of staying up and to do that we have to win both remaining games ,that could increase to 2 chances on sunday depending on results. If swinton win Sunday they are safe and our only route for survival is to beat Oldham and count on Dewsbury doing the same the following week.If result go our way sunday and we win and swinton get beat ,then our destiny us back in our own hands and beating swinton on the last day will see us stay up even if Oldham beat the rams. Haven need to win both Oldham could lose both and stay up Swinton could lose both and stay up We are Still odds on for the drop but not going down without a fight

wayne_r
As a Swinton supporter I obviously want Swinton to stay up - all the clubs concerned know what they must do, so it will be a worrying time for all of us (Oldham, Whitehaven, Swinton) supporters as our teams fight to remain in the Championship. Dave Naylor
From an Oldham fans perspective, this is the list of results in preferential order: Round 6 Oldham beat Haven - Happy days Haven beat Oldham, Fax win at Swinton - We now need to win at Dewsbury or hope Swinton win at Haven Haven beat Oldham, Swinton beat Fax - We now really need to win at Dewsbury since Swinton are safe Round 7 (If we're still not safe) Oldham win at Dewsbury - Happy days Dewsbury beat Oldham, Swinton win at Haven - We're lucky, we survive, happy days Dewsbury beat Oldham, Haven beat Swinton - Uh oh. ultimate roughyed
We've absolutely got to win on Sunday Dave as Dewsbury will not want a repeat performance of what happened last week going into their play off semi final..........no doubt all the key players who were missing last week (Paul Sykes to name but a few) will be back in the side. I just can't see us beating Dewsbury away (given their shocker last week) and I'm sure HAven will beat Swinton at home (no offence to Swinton but we have to pray for a Halifax win on Sunday to at least make it a meaningful game for Swinton as well!)
