WELCOME TO NRL 2017

... and our first tipping competition the new season
Hope you had an enjoyable few weeks rest!

Everyone reading this is welcome to enter the competition and the ones that follow each week throughout the 2017 season culminating in the Grand Final
which will be played in October at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

Whether you've taken part before or you fancy having a go this season for the first time you're guaranteed a warm welcome.

Entries are allowed each week up until the kick off of the first game in the round
NB The first round's first game is on THURSDAY!!!
ROUND 1 QUESTIONS:
*Poll Competition:
Which Round 1 game will produce the biggest margin of victory?
- enter in the poll itself at the top and put your answer in your posting.

Now the main event of the week:
*Match tipping Competition:
Name the 8 (that's EIGHT) winning teams in NRL Round 1

*Points Competition
How many points will be scored by all the teams added together in R1?
This is a competition in itself and will act as a tie breaker for the match tipping comp if necessary. This is used as the decider when necessary so do give it a go.

*HOME Win Competition:
How many HOME wins will there be in NRL R1?

In rounds where the game is on the road and played at a neutral venue, the team named first in the fixture will be regarded as the home team for the purposes of this competition.

Fixtures:

Fixtures R!.jpg

A reward for entry?

Animated awards will be given for the winner(s) of each competition question.
Match tipping scores will be added together as the season progresses to produce a Tipsters' Ladder which will be pinned to the top of the forum topic list page

The best of luck to everyone.
Enjoy your Rugby League!

And now for the Gus 'I Told You So' Gould predictions:

Highest Margin

Warriors v Knights, but since it's the first round, all teams will still be looking for their best form and combinations... Plenty of surprises to come especially on Friday and Saturday.

Winners

Probably Sharks but Broncos stand a good chance too.

Probably Bulldogs but Storm stand a good chance too.

Probably Tigers but Rabbitohs stand a good chance too.

The Panthers are involved so I probably shouldn't say anything. But, don't be surprised if they win. Dragons stand a good chance too.

Probably Cowboys but Raiders stand a good chance too.

Probably Titans but Roosters stand a good chance too.

Probably Warriors but Knights stand a good chance too (Nah... Who Am I kidding?).

Probably Eels but See Eagles stand a good chance too.

Points scored

Anything between 327 and 512. 400+ seems reasonable. But since it's the first round, all teams will still be looking for their best form and combinations...

Home wins

Tricky one, that. Probably 5, could be less though. But depending on the weather, it could be more.

Apologies dear tipsters.

It's Sunday evening here.

I've just got back from a cold wet game (beloved Fev). where we lost by 1 point, visitors winning it by a penaty goal in the last few minutes.

Now, as I was about to sort the scores out and summarise R1 comp I find that out of the blue I have to drive down to London, where I'll be overnight before my return tomorrow.

Normally I'll be hoping to get this job done by Sunday evening UK time. This week though it looks like it will be tomorrow (Mon pm UK time) before I can do the necessary.

Please bear with me.

Thanks,

Graham :unsure::crazypilot:

Match Tipping:

Our top scorers this week with 6/8 are Southstander13 and Jim Bronco

For future reference: Regulars will know this but for newcomers here's what we do in such situations:

When two or more tipsters share the top score we decide on a champion tipster for the week by looking at their predictions for the points total by all teams, and the nearest to the correct figure gets the title.

So our tie breaker does come into play this first weekend:

Southstander13 (+8) is this weeks Champ Tipster having just edged out JimBronco (-9)

Points Total: There were 332 points scored in this opening round. This week on her debut StormGirl predicted this exactly!!!
The Home Win comp was jointly won this week by - Southstander13, JimBronco and Barney  who all correctly predicted there'd be just 3 home wins.
Our Poll Comp had no winner this week as none of us picked the Dragons vs Panthers  as the game that would produce the biggest winning margin, on this occasion by 32 points.

Animated awards will be presented to this week's winners as soon as I've been able to create them.
Our Round 2 tipping competition will be posted shortly.

Congratulations to our  top scorers this week Southstander13 and Jim Bronco

Thanks to everyone who took part.

Graham
