Agree, this sounds far more like deflection from a season of poor performances than anything serious. Though I did hear talk of bidders for city wanting to build FC a new stadium a while back. The former Fulham groundsman, Steve McGee (later to become one of our stalwarts), always reckoned that soccer caused more damage than RL - and he was the person who had to repair it!
